Does anyone here have any experience with the Mini PCI-E to PCI-E x1 adapters for wireless cards? If it works correctly it seems like a cheap way to get a decent desktop wireless adapter with good drivers.
I do, and I was dissatisfied by the WiFi-on-desktop experience in general. Powerline works better for me. More consistent.

wireless adapters are always shit and should never be used on a desktop when possible.
If your house has Coaxial use MoCA adapters for a wired LAN. MoCA 2.0 can hit 400-450mbps, Bonded MoCA 2.0 can hit 800mbps+
If your house doesn't have coax but has somewhat recent electrical wiring, you can also try powerline adapters, though they tend to be much more prone to failure than the MoCA solution from my experience.

I bought one from aliexpress and it works fine. These are pretty basic and passive to there's not much you have to worry about. Also >>>/g/csg

Did not know MoCA adapters for ethernet were available. Iirc theoretically MoCA 2.1 will be Gbps speeds
It works but but i'm now using a cable so i have disconnect this piece from my pc.

It does work well.
Intel wifi is vastly better then any USB crap
it works. you want to get an antenna for it as well for the signal gain.
mine is something like a 9db gain antenna and it gives me awesone signal reception

Currently using an intel ac7260, it's basically a laptop wifi card on a pcie x1 adapter. Only problem I have with it is that the bluetooth driver is hot mess, disabling bluetooth fixes it though.

Bonded MoCA 2.0 will already get you there if your coax drops aren't super old and shitty quality with 10+ splitters in the chain.
If it's a straight coax drop with only 1-2 splits, you can probably get ~900-940mbps which is equal to 1gbps.

I guess 2.5 is out and offers 2.5Gbps throughput. Doesn't matter though because the line in my apartment is garbage and is causing enough BER for my modem to barely range at times.
Already know they won't be able to fish a new line and can't see any reasonable ways to run a new line.
Signal comes in at +8dBmV so no problem with splitters

No adapters are available for MoCA 2.5 even if they've finished the specification.
Also, be aware DOCSIS 3.1 encroaches upon the MoCA frequency range, so you would potentially need to be careful about upgrade paths if you plan on sticking with a DOCSIS provider.

just get a tp link archer
tp link > intel

What adapter did you get ?

Does it work without tinkering on linux ? Because intel chips work well as far as i know
OP here, thanks for the advice everyone.

Isn't that a wireless router? I'm looking for an internal wireless adapter.
I actually have a TP-Link TL-WN781ND that I'm looking to replace because of the drivers. I'm forced to disable it in certain instances because the drivers cause software delays which cause errors in certain real time audio software. I've been searching reviews for other PCI and PCI-E adapters but keep coming upon reviews which cite this same driver issues.
