If you have the money and the patience I would. You know you can resell those keysets for a ton of money if you keep them in good shape?
There is a subreddit where people pay crazy prices for shit.
I would even sell my ass for Hyperfuse or GMK Hydro.

>>
>>61951472
noppoo choc mini
dont buy it, horrible key chatter issues since they switched to gateron switches. No issues with the cherry mx variants but those no longer exist. it's my special snowflake keyboard. I've bought two over the last 4 years.
>>
>>61951472
noppoo choc mini but they don't use cherries
>>
>>61951602
slickdeals was telling me the gaterons (or one of the clones) were "smoother". is that all horseshit or what?

bought a monoprice mx blue keyboard for $45 (full RGB backlighting) recently, I heard iOne is the OEM which isn't fantastic but figure at that price it's worth it with 1 year manufacturer + 2 year extended credit card warranty = 3 years total. but it made me curious to try a board with gaterons.
>>
>>61951618
>>61951602
the layout is a 84 key, right? I was just asking because I'm getting a 84 key soon and most complete keycap sets don't include the special sized keys like the 1.75 right shift key. where did you get the caps? please no aliexpress, I won't buy from a page that doesn't support paypal
>>
If I build a xdre75 and I find out I don't like the ortholinear layout how much could I sell it for? More or less than the sum of all the parts?
>>
>>61951634
well then too bad, no caps for you unless you buy overpriced ones
>>
>>61951621
No, it's true. Gateron switches are generally regarded as superior. I'm also a big fan of outemu blacks, they're great.
The problem has something to do with the keyboard and it's design.
>>61951634
aliexpress
>>
>>61951634
Don't buy an 84 key, just get normal TKL. Only the best of the best deserve to own the 75% layout and you are certainly not one of them.
>>
>>61951602
The key chatter is there because they cloned cherry's real key technology very poorly. people say if you disable it most of the problems go away
>>
>>61951675
How can you disable it? You mean the NKRO? The noppoo simulates 5 different keyboards being plugged in at the same time to give good NKRO and as far as I know there is no way to disable it.
The only fix I've found for it, which is more or less perfect, is a software fix. Pic related. It still messes up sometimes by missing a key press or missing a chatter and the faster you type the more CPU it uses. If I press keys as fast as I can it can get up to 70% of my 6600k.
>>
>>61951666
>you are certainly not one of them.
what makes you think that?
>>
>>61951721
Your unwillingness to use anything but paypal.
>>
>>61951700
You know there is a hardware switch to adjust the keychatter on their keyboards, as well as one to disable nkro and their stupid real key technology. Did you not read the manual?
>>
in old home we have saying
mechanical keyboard is like butterfly because when old man goes on hunting trip he take the beauty in the woods and drink
such beautiful. never defeat mechanical keyboard. great fun kinding on
>>
>>61951750
It didn't come with a manual and the hardware switch for the keychatter doesn't help what so ever. Trust me, I've fucked with it for hours and I've owned the gateron variant for a year.
Whats the keybind to disable real key?
The boards are absolute dog shit since they switched to gateron but I still like it. It's a shame noppoo stopped making them and sold all their tooling to plum.
>>
>>61951734
I'm not unwilling to use anything but PayPal. If the shop is located in my home country I typically pay via debit card.
>>
What's the best 75% layout to build? I have a TKL but want something smaller. Not a meme 60% though
>>
>>61952230
>build
Winkeyless B.Mini is nice in terms of customizability.
The PCB is great, and apparently now also supports QMK.
They do flex a little if you push them down hard enough due to the acrylic pancake case. Not that this will ever happen while typing normally.
>>
>>61951789
So, are Plum boards shittier than Noppoo? I've seen some Plums both mechanical and topre clone around Ali.
>>
>>61952278
I just want one with normal keycaps so I can replace them easily. Does that even exist?
>>
>>61952392
I can't speak for them but I will be buying the plum nano 45g soon.
I suspect they are of high quality just like noppoo. Noppoo's only issue is keychatter. They are god their otherwise.
POM feels so fucking good you have no idea
>>
>>61952409
I'm torn between buying a small decent board for cheap or going all out for XD75 PCB-mount build.
>>
>>61952454
Just find a cheap TKL with your switch of choice. I'm a fan of gateron blue and outemu blacks.
There are tons of options on us amazon and aliexpress.
I would personally avoid RGB backlighting on cheap boards because they're very prone to failure.
>>
>>61952454
I am also debating about the XD75 build

Got it for £16.99 and posted about it the other day. Still waiting on delivery, but the only review I could find for it was on a website called mighty gadget (never heard of it).

>>
What do you think /mkg/?
Is sculpted more ergonomic than non-sculpted?
>>
>>61953764
Non sculpted curved is the best
>>
>>61952394
No, all 75% boards have a 1.5 right shift.
The bottom row you can make standard. At the cost of only two buttons right of the spacebar.
>>
>>61953764
Cherry profile best profile.
Sculpted but relatively flat.

SA and everything trying to emulate it is a meme.
Having such high keycaps fucks all ergonomics and its only advantage is looking >vintage
>>
>>61952394
>>61954098
With a universal plate like the one in this kit you can use a 2.75 right shift but then you lose a button in that row.

I just ordered a mechanical keyboard.

I want to paint the pbt keys rather than buy a new keyset. Matte black, matte dark grey, and a couple light grey.

I am thinking that automotive primer plus a matte sealant clearcoat will be enough to prevent wear for at least a year or two. I can also get an oliophobic spray to deal with finger oils.

Is there anything I need to know?

So I've used MX browns which are scratchy and don't even feel that accurate. I've also used kailh browns which are wobbly and inaccurate as all heck, but to their credit feel much nicer than MX imo.

I used a topre keyboard for a bit and it didn't have that issue, but the bump was really wide and vague and I felt like actuation was far before the real bump.

Neither of them come close to the accurate feeling of MX blues, but fuck the plastic-y clicking noise they make.

tl;dr does there exist a tactile (non-clicky) switch with concise and accurate tactility, i.e. a distinct bump and actuation right at the bump?

I heard zealios can deliver but you'd have to really convince me to go down that rabbit hole.

Yeah I agree with you. I just don't know what else to get. Might just order the matias off amazon and return it if I don't like it. I got prime so I can get it quickly

I want my build to be PCB-mounted but I'm having doubts about case compatibility. Also this is like the only green case on the whole thing:
https://www.aliexpress.com/store/product/gh60-luminous-case-clear-case-white-black-case-for-xd60-xd64-poker-poker2-poker3/3034003_32815241373.html
No idea how coloured semi-transparent plastic would look like with LEDs and how stable it would be (lightweight? Slightly bent?)...

>I'm having doubts about case compatibility
why? Its PCB mount not plate
>>
>>61975987
I'm worried that PCB wouldn't fit the case. However, by the looks of it, screw holes on it and in PCB are in the same places. I'm a first-timer...

But the plastic looks like the annoying kind that would be slightly uneven. And if it's too light it'll try to escape from my fingertips. Scary thought!

Plate mounted ergo clears with 62g Korean springs and krytox lubed sliders are best clears.

What do you think about icon mods?
>>

For something purely for aesthetics, you'd think designers would put more effort into making them look good.

Is lubing really a thing? Won't it wear off quick and attract dust? Would it be reasonable to replace springs in Gateron Browns?

If you use a proper lube it doesn't seem to need off, and since it's inside the switch it shouldn't get dirty. Krytok comes in different thicknesses ranging from thin oil to more of a grease so you can match to the switch type.

Ducky boards are good in general. Doesn't really matter what you want to use it for, just get a switch you like.
