So for the past few years I've been using a pair of Ear force PX20s and they finally died. Getting new headphones soon and wondering what I should get but I have this weird problem. My pc has different ports up front for audio in and out. Most headphones have one output for both but even with a splitter my pc doesn't like it and won't get audio. Any ideas?

Are Xears IEMs still a thing?
Had some several years ago and want some new ones as they have decent reviews and a good price.

Their website is now flagged as a malware domain in uBlock's filter list and they didn't respond to the email I wrote.

If they are dead, what are decent IEMs that cost around 50€?

ATH-AD700
I loved the huge soundstage, especially for vidya, and would like to find something similar. Really liked that they were so bass-light, too, since I'm a weak baby man and heavy bass makes me a bit nauseous. I see this as a good opportunity to "step up" instead of just replacing 'em with the same.

Also have a pair of portapros but they're just "fine" for when I'm listening on the go. Really prefer the AD700s.

>>
>>61936724
The portapros are pretty popular for that use, at ~$35.
>>
I'll probably break down and do it, buy the hd600(maybe 650? probably not). It's in my price range and I've been convinced it's the safe bet. Maybe I'd prefer the sound of the he400i or the r70x or something like that but I know at the very least that nothing is like objectively superior to the hd600 at the price.
I really want to hear planars but I get wet shit thrown in my face everytime I mention the m1060. As far as the he400i goes I would prefer it because apparently putting really high end pads on it improves the sound where as most people leave stock pads on the hd600. I would love to have a headphone with big lamb skin pads.
Anyone else have this problem where when you buy something you are unable to give up the idea that maybe something else would have been better for your money? Even though I love my headphones mouse keyboard and computer I spend all day looking at other ones.
>>
>>61936726
>ATH-AD700
HD600.
You _will_ lose some soundstage, in exchange for accuracy. The open ATHs do exaggerate soundstage after all. It is a form of coloring.
It won't sound like it's playing in your skull like closed headphones, so do not worry too much about that.
>replacing the ATH-AD700

LONG STORY SHORT i ordered ATH-M40x's from AMAZON (was SHIPPED & SOLD by them at the time, i could SWEAR..) first package came, had some sh•tty SAMSON knock-offs in the original M40x box. Got a replacement sent, this time it sure LOOKS authentic but now I am suspicious. Would anyone bother to counterfeit a pair of these bad boys? No, rite? I appreciate the honest recommendation, anon. I've been considering the HD600s but was cautious since they're the current meme headphones around here. Worst case I return 'em, anyhow, but they seem nice.

Especially as the AD700s are discontinued, spares seem rare and could just buy a lightly used replacement set off ebay for $50~80 instead. Could probably nag customer support to see if they still have any but figured I'd just take the opportunity to change things up a little.

I'm a different anon, but here's the reasonable bottom-line when it comes to HD600s.

They're very close to neutral and very accurate. At that price, they're the most neutral and most accurate headphone there is. However, that doesn't necessarily mean your music will sound better than a headphone with less accuracy or less neutrality. If you prefer more bass, then a different headphone in the same price range would better suit, such as the beyerdynamic DT880, or the hifiman 400i. All three of these headphones are very good and would not be a bad decision regardless of which one you choose. You can safely ignore any shills that want to argue about quality control or customer service as well, since the statistically probability of you receiving a faulty pair or running into any issues are extremely slim, but nevertheless, for the hundreds of thousands of people who are silent (because they had no issues) we get a hundred or so that bitch very loudly (because they got unlucky) and so they misrepresent how prevalent any issues with these different brands (sennheiser, beyerdynamics, hifiman, AKG, etc) really are.

Bought a classic47 kit off ebay last year per your recommendation. Put it together OK and it's been doing it's job.
Only complaint is with the provided 3.5mm sockets; unless the jacks are in the perfect position I only get one channel, and the slightest touch or bump will mess it up.

What do I need to get to replace them? are the sockets standard fit to pcb?

Anyone here have experience with the MA900? Thinking of just getting one to see about the comfort, and since it's discontinued, it would be cool to have one. The problem is that the price has gone up to $260+ just for a used pair. Do they sound good enough to justify that price, outside of it being a collectors item? You most likely not get a warranty with used. If they get fucked, they're fucked. T1's are very detailed but bright as hell. 1990's a weird upgrade from DT880/990 if you like bright/V-shaped.
>>
>>61940902
The 100-200 Hz hump is the biggest problem. Bass loses 5-6 dB at 30 Hz, mid range is around -4 dB, treble is mild and rolled off but holds its ground until 9 kHz.
The first graph has basically perflectly flat bass, the dip at 300 Hz isn't ideal but it picks back up which should not make it sound as muddy. Not a fan of how the treble dips down after 4 kHz, though. That's like an 8 dB dip.
Neither are perfect, but I'd go for the first one and maybe fix the treble a little with EQ.

>>
>>61941027
>haha I said niggerbass
>that proves my point!

no it doesn't. The bass in graph one isn't bloated, it's neutral. The mids are also more neutral, from 2khz-5khz it's flatter. the treble roll-off is also more gradual and not as extreme as in graph 2. It doesn't matter how many times you say niggerbass, there's no bloat. It's flatter than graph 1 and presents no roll-off.

Graph 2 isn't even mid-centric. It's midbass centric. With no sub-bass. The headphone in graph 2 is complete trash.

Does it not seem excessive that just one pair of foam tips is almost US$5? Am I just too frugal?

this seems crazy. Are these more reusable than I imagine? When I have to use foam earplugs to sleep or use power tools, I only use them 1 - 3 times before I throw them out especially if they're too porous to properly clean. Is it different with IEM tips?

maybe i should just stick with silicone tips?

You're paying for modularity. It's shit. If you need a good on ear, HD 25.

tripfag never even owned the 600, so its hard to take his advice seriously when he only looks at graphs.

sounds a bit masochist to me anon. don't most people who shill the hd600s not own them?

It's hard to tell, since you could also claim most people who shy the 600 don't own them as well.

Been experimenting with this but wasapi doesn't allow EQ with equalizer APO and haven't been bothered to make an EQ for foobar

IEMs because they get good isolation, don't cost a fortune for quality sound, and I'm not going to be wearing them for very long anyway.

Anyone seen a comparison between 598 and 579/599?

Plenty of people saying 579>599 but 598SR are close to 50% off at the moment and I've not seen anything to suggest the new line is actually any better

What can I expect? Is the mic good enough for casual streaming?

You'll find some if you look for HD599. The HD579 is newer, so it has less reviews.

I'm having difficulty finding 598/599 comparisons that don't just call 599 an 'updated version' of the 598. Reviewers don't seem to want to say whether or not they're actually improved in any way, which suggests to me they're not.
Really just asking here in the hope that someone knows of a side-by-side comparison write up or video.

Then look at FR plots.

>>61949509
I did, just trying not to base a purchase decision on muhh graffs. Thanks though
>>
>>61949537
Well, then there's the reviews. Look for HD599 because that's been around longer. As for HD579, as FR shows, it's almost the same. It is way cheaper and the few reviewers that compare both do say 579 sounds better, for some reason.
I only have 598 and 600, but going by these plots I can tell you the treble on the 599/579 is better because it's louder (HD598's is too rolled off, I can't hear sounds that are there on HD600) and because the shape ressembles HD600, which treble is very good, rather than HD598, which is flawed/odd on the treble.

Are the HD600s a good upgrade from HD280 pros?
