This isn't really issue of slowing system down or not. Nowadays AVs are for most part useless, so keeping program that has complete access to your whole computer and constantly phones home is retarded.
The reason why it's recommended to keep defender on despite that is that Windows 10 does all of this stuff anyway regardless of whether defender is on or off. And defender is a decent AV, probably better than Avast actually.
Uninstall Avast, enable defender and forget about it. Most likely it will never do anything, unless you are retarded and download and run .jpg.exe files

i used OOSU10 to deactivate all of that windows crap inclusive windows defender.

just one last question: can i do weekly or monthly scans with windows defender too?

i have no idea about that program since i never really used it. i dont even know how the GUI looks like lol.

and i cant check right now since its completely locked away by OOSU10.
