>Computer is becoming a bit unstable when under heavy load
>Just shuts off, no error message
>Try turning off Hyperthreading on old i7 920 to see if it runs a bit cooler and more stable
>It doesn't really help
>Try turning it back on
>It doesn't work
>Now only four threads work regardless of Hyperthread on or not
>Can't afford new CPU because it requires replacing motherboard and RAM as well
>All this happens on my birthday
Why even live
>>61915318
Stop being poor on your birthday.

Go buy 1366 Ruststar/Elitecorpse/Huanan X58 and 1366 Xeon from Aliexpress.

>Be student
>Have really low rent and bills each month
>Save up money throughout the year
>Feel confident I don't need to work during the summer because I have saved up enough money
>Sudden unplanned events makes me spend most of the money I have saved up
>Only barely manage to pay the bills each month, live on rice and beans
>Too late to get a job to cover since the first payment will only come in september
I already know I am retarded
>>61915349
This is actually a very good idea
>>61915318
>Intel CPU
found your problem
>>61915365
you should be working part time throughout the year anon. Even a weekend job can help a bunch.
>>61915382
delet this
>>61915385
Yes, I know, but I'm locked up in other obligations for the last two years, so I haven't really had the time to work either :(
>>61915318
It is okay frog-o
Hope you are lucky soon
>>61915411
Make time anon, you've got nobody to blame but yourself.
If you've got time to 4chin you've got time to work. Go beg on the streets for £20 and buy another 920
>>61915318
Old processors wear under use. Up the voltage and that shit should stay stable.
>>61915318
Power supply.
>>61915318
A Ryzen 3 1300, mobo, and 8GB of RAM can be had for ~$230. Just save up my dude. $20 a month will get you that in about a year. By then, it'll probably be a bit cheaper.
>>61915422
I know, I should leave some of my other assignments and work instead, for money instead of for free.
>>61915459
Would that help hyperthreading? The CPU runs, just not like it should. I can even overclock it stable, but the temps get really high now so I think maybe the fans might have given up as well.
>>61915477
I've considered power supply for the really unstable thing, where it shuts down. Gonna get a Seasonic 850 platinum when I start making money again.
>>61915492
Yeah, I'll have to slowly save up for new parts, definitely. Gonna maker sure to throw in a new PSU as well.
>not being a student
>have no money for case (in fact, I can afford 2$ used case from early 2000s, but want something better)
>PC is still lying on the cardboard box
>>61915590
>Lenin poster
>No money
>>61915616
That's the posters which I found among the other shit, when cleaning up dead grandpa's flat.
So, they're cost nothing.
>>61915630
Sorry about your grandma
>>61915630
Sorry about your granpa.
The poster on the right looks interesting, care to post a full picture? :)
>>61915664
Right now, i have no normal camera.
But here is scan (low-res and watermarked, but still better than nothing).
>>61915689
Very nice, do you know what it says?
>>61915697
It says something like "Take care about your red scarf, because it's same color with red banner/red flag".
