They're obviously collecting and selling your data. As someone who's actively trying to avoid leaking your data, your data is more valuable to buyers because of the higher chance it contains something juicy. It encrypts your DNS queries which prevents a third-party from tampering with them. It also has the side effect of protecting against malware that changes your DNS because if something changes your DNS to anything other than 127.0.0.1 (or whatever you bind DNSCrypt to) then queries will fail as long as the DNSCrypt service is running.

It's up to you if you want to trust them but using DNSCrypt is primarily about security and not privacy, although depending on your ISP you might be better off trusting some random stranger since at least there's a chance they're not keeping logs whereas your ISP is almost guaranteed to do it.

I have a guest network for visitors. All the devices allowed on my trusted network are trusted devices.
