I just installed XFCE.
How do I make it look like opposite of vomit inducing piece of shit?
>he fell for the xfce meme
Enjoy spending 30 days ricing before it doesn't look like barf

funny I tried installed Hackintosh before I installed it. But my wificard was not supported by it. Everything worked like a charm.

Installing Gnome now.
Install arc or osx-arc with paper icons. On the /g/ wiki and on /r/unixporn there's some guides.

Lmao gnome looks the same, it's the gtk themes that change things retard. Gnome uses the same by default.
>vomit inducing
Aside from the weird glossy task bar, that looks quite decent. It has this nice cozy feel to it that doesn't distract.

>Installing Gnome now.
Best decision you could've made.
There will be many REEEEES itt, because many gtards memed themselves and others into installing Xfce and thinking it's good.

XFCE is ugly in an outdated way but gnome is also pretty hideous. Everything is so thick and space wasting.
Probably easier to theme though.

>implying that what matters for a DE is the default look
DE are more than what you see. Hell, you can even make XFCE look more than decent with a nice theme and some customization, but that won't change it's still just lipstick on a pig.
>>61880829
It's not what matters, but someone without maximum autism can be put off by how hideous a de looks at first glance.
>>61880577
Jesus Christ dude your listening to cibo matto in 2017?
>>61880543
rice it up
XFCE is great because it has a ton of relatively easy customization and is very resource-light. I run it on my old chinkpad because GNOME got too bloated (performance and screen area).
>>61880981
what theme?
>>61880543sudo apt-get install arc-theme
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:papirus/papirus
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install papirus-icon-theme
that's it nigger. thank me later
>>61881097
also you need to go to Settings/Appearance to change theme.
I have best results with Arc-Darker for Style and plain Papirus for Icons.
>>61881062
Probably vertex
>>61881097
>apt-get
they reformed it to apt only
>>61881390
apt-get and apt-cache still work mongoloid
>>61881716
because retards like you still use it.
>>61880543
1. Get a good theme and icon pack
2. Mess with panels until you find a setup you like
3. Get a good wallpaper
That's it. It's no different than any other DE.

and others... thanks famlams
OP here, I installed Gnome and tweaked it to my liking with arc-red-dark theme. Everything is swell except I cannot remove XFCE now. I tried removing it but there are still leftovers pieces and xfce session on GDM. wtf? How do I get rid of this shit?
>>61881126
Yep. That's the best combo. Arc darker also looks nice with Moka icons.
>>61880543
You must have posted the wrong screenshot, because this looks actually quite decent.
looks good to me
>>61880543
If that's vomit inducing then you need to lay off the ipecac
>>61880981
Hey! It's Gnome with the panel moved to the bottom! Great job!
I like the default mint xfce look more than windows 10
>>61880970
So?
Let me guess you only listen to BNM from p4k and obscure Bandcamp releases?
OP here, now I have finally done it. Removed all XFCE junks from all over the place, configured Gnome and ready to shitpost. :^)
