Don't be stupid. It's so shit that it needs tons of different DVI ports that are incompatible with eachother and are specialized. While displayport can do anything. Analog, digital, sound, display. DVI is fucking stupid
>>61875235
This. I have an R9 380X, which was the last AMD GPU to include DVI-I, which outputs analog signal to a CRT.

Comfiest of them all.
Yeah we can talk about how apple is a piece of shit company and type it all from our macbooks like the hypocrites we are, but everyone's gotta admit this is the comfiest cable ever.
That snap when you plus it in is so stiff and satisfying, I know it's not going anywhere. And it's reversible and small and just kinda pretty all around.
If they could have gotten tb3 running through this instead of usb-c, the macbook would have had 4 of them and that would have been alright with me.

DVI is basically HDMI without sound + VGA in one connector.

Awww yeeeesss. When I was little there was a walkie talkie out at the airport my grandpa used to manage that had one of these. I loved fucking with it cuz it was comfy to undo
>>61877835
Because it's a piece of shit useless port.
It provided no power (unless you get "special" eSATA+Power adapters and devices) and literally was shitty like FireWire because it wasn't widely accepted.
USB3.0 and USB-C and even Thunderbolt 3 are 1000000000% better.

Why?
>>61880582
Paperclip
>>61880582
Because the threads lock up all the time and if you want to unplug it after it's been sitting some time, you need pliers to get it to move.
>>61880461
>tfw those geforce mx cards have like 90% of the market share today, just rebranded as Ti or GTX because nobody remembers the shittiness of mx
But that's just not true. Nvidia cards are so dominant today because AMD just can't produce anything competitive at the top end of the market. They may have compelling products in the low and mid range segments, but the positive press Nvidia gets for making the best of the best drives brand recognition. If you want to bitch about Nvidia being ubiquitous, don't blame Nvidia. Blame AMD for being unable to compete.

For me, it's the 6.3mm jack.
>>61881172
maybe but it uses the worst possible cables
>>61878663
Came here for BNC, was not disappointed
>>61877141
Adapters make it uncomfy by definition
>>61878663
I was in a battalion's comms platoon. BNC was 3 years of my life, and I can't say I see the appeal. It takes an ungodly amount of force to lock into place to the point girl colleagues were unable to do so. A bit of dirt or gloves make it impossible to handle. I can't remember if the pin had a tendency to break, but the wire itself was weak and often broke apart.
The one time I had fun with these cables was when I was told to strip an old humvee of its old unaccounted for equipment, and I was given permission to cut the cables. It was so old, dirt and bug corpses made a half-inch bed of solid gunk and covered the wires and molded to their shape.
Comfy
>>61881056
Fuck you
>>61875024
this is the only port in my thinkpad that i have never used. should have put a hdmi port there instead so it could be connected to tvs too.
>>61882886
DP to HDMI connectors exist, you low brain.
The only reason business equipment uses DP is because HDMI needs licensing
>>61881056
SHART
>>61882886
HDMI can pretty much do the same as DP (except DP can do more, like multiple displays from the same port). Main difference is that HDMI charges an annual fee of US$10,000 to install for the manufacturer while DP is is royalty free to implement.
So the people who own licenses for HDMI have been advertising their port and so on even though the port is shittier.
DisplayPort has the ability to share this bandwidth with multiple streams of audio and video to separate devices by daisy-chaining them or connecting them to a hub and DisplayPort also have much larger bandwidth capabilities than HDMI (except the absolute newest version of HDMI that has slightly better bandwidth at last, but without the ability to connect to multiple devices from the same port.)
