I agree with you, I have the same wrist dimension as you and it doesn't look small at all, only when you're up close (then again, no shit) does it make it look dumb.

It isn't just the wrist, it's the proportion of everything. If you're a manlet and a DYEL and you're wearing a diver that's bordering too big, it's going to look infinitely worse.

My wrists are around 7.5 inches circumference. I don't have a ruler or calipers right now, but they are something like 2.5 inches wide. Also note that the strap was a bit tight, impinging on my wrist a bit.

If the store is saying something like "Guaranteed genuine Seiko 5 A+++ friend" then yeah that shit is fake. Also a general rule of thumb is that if the seller's feedback is under 98%, you should be really careful. That purple watch you listed for example is from a seller that has a 94% feedback rating and multiple claims of broken or un-shipped watches; I'd rather buy a Vostok or Raketa from some seller in Ukraine at that point.

So let's set aside the shit that Omega cuck-axial gets for a second.
I'm aware that their original implementations only used a 2-level co-axial escapement which contributed to a number of problems, and was far from Daniels' design.
However, I have read that their later calibers, such as the 2500D I think, used 3-level escapements. Are the later movement still subject to the same issues even though they are 3-level?
Also, does anyone know if the 8900 is 3-level?
>>
So a guy from the previous thread recommended me a SRP773 turtle instead of a skx007.
What would you guys get in my position? Is one of these options the objectively "better one"?
>>
>>61874855
The new movement is still too young to reach to the conclusion to be honest.
>>
>>61874985
SRP if you like vintage cushion case divers, SKX if you prefer the Submariner aesthetic.
>>
Just thought I would post my absolute pure class Squale.
>>
>>61874985
The movement in the turtle is a significant step up. However, it is also quite a bit larger than the SKX. Those are the objective differences. The turtle might also have slightly better QC. Which case shape you like better is a matter of personal taste.

>>61874987
I figured as much. Do all of the co-axials since they introduced it the first time have three levels? I'm not really too into Omega and I'm confused by the different names they have given their co-axial calibers. I'm mostly interested in the high magnetic resistance on their new calibers, as well as the potential of their globemaster line in the future design-wise.

>>
>>61875054

I really like the blue color, I don't really care about the shape quite frankly. So besides the matter of subjective taste, the turtle would be the more "mechanically" better choice?

The stock turtle bracelet has screws or pin holders or something, so adding or removing links to the stock bracelet takes a bit more work and care than a pin-only bracelet.

I really like both to be honest. The thing is I've heard the 007 got discontinued recently (which would make the turtle kinda the successor, right?) and I'm afraid prices will skyrocket in the near future.
What do you think about getting the skx first and getting the turtle afterwards?
>>
>>61875249
Both watches are reissues of older Seiko dive watches. There has been the rumor that the SKX is going out of production for a while, but I haven't seen any real evidence of that.

Lets say I throw in the sumo for competition too as it looks pretty similar. Does that change anything?
I'm currently reading through some reviews of the turtle and the majority say it has some real QC issues and you have to be rather lucky to receive a good one.
>>
lamo where's the watch hate coming from
>>
>>61875337
The sumo is amazing, possibly my favorite watch. Be careful thought, because it is fairly large as well, and doesn't hide the lugs as well as the other two. The bezel is love or hate, as are the hands. Most people swap out the sumo bracelet, and I may eventually, but the stock one has grown on me. The case finishing on the sumo is on another level from the skx and turtle. The movement in the sumo is also a step up from the turtle.
However, I heard another anon mention that the turtle QC had been cleared up. You can also try to order off Amazon, or some other place with a good return policy so you can send back a lemon if you get one. The sumo is also a significant price jump.

>>61875321
I like that GMT reference a lot. Not my favorite dial on the datejust, but a nice one all the same.
>>
>>61875564
Looks rad. However now that you mentioned it I saw that's it is in fact more expensive. So I guess I'm not considering it for now.
God I can't wrap my head around it. I'm so torn I'd love to get both the SKX and the turtle.
I'll probably order them both simultaneously from amazon since like you said they have a pretty nice return policy and I'll keep the one that suits me better. Maybe I'll just keep 'em both.

Turtle is 10/10. Be aware your bezel won't align more than likely, but that's also common with the SKX. The 773's blue is nice asf, it's a deep navy that looks very bright blue in direct sunlight and basically black in the dark. If you want a sunburst turtle, look at the Padi and the Blue Lagoon, both look awesome.

People were paying $400 for this thing when it came out due to the hype. You can find them for ~$200 now. Bought mine straight from a Seiko outlet for $200 dead even. For that price, it's a steal and well worth it over the SKX. The case design is so nice, it curves upwards on the sides so when you bend your wrist you barely notice it.

>wristlet

Yes, I know. If you're a wristlet, make sure you go and try one on before buying. I'm like the guy with the SRP775 in this thread @ 6.5" wrist, I'm fine with it. If I took a picture of my entire body, it matches, wrist only it's getting there. Don't even bother thinking about a Sumo (51.5 mm L2L compared to 47mm with Turtle) if you're a wristlet.

The base the the numerals all face the center of the dial, it's just an aesthetic choice. Part of the point of having IIII is how you have four numerals with II's, four with V's, and four with X's. It's just more symmetrical that way.

Also, that's an entrance to the colosseum m8.

Same as yours but
DJ switched for a STGF075 on a custom black or maybe white conforming endpiece leather strap.
Tank solo switched for steel version on a bracelet.
And Seiko switched for the same but in YG to match the one I'd have myself.
His / hers PP Eclipses in white gold would be neat as well, guess it'd replace the (of course his / hers) Reverso(s).

That was my response too when someone first told me about it. It just sounds like total bollocks. From searching online it seems theres a lot of the aura loving conspiritorial hippies, but there is a lot of people who seem more reasonable about it.

The only reason I semi-believe it is because it happens to my own mother. She's been through a huge number of watches throughout her life, including very expensive Rolex and historical pocket watches that have been going since the '50s. If she has them on her person, they stop after a few months. As soon as she takes the watch off and puts it down, it'll start going again.

I don't really know what to think of it. Fucking weird.

Rolex isn't a micro-brand, it doesn't add features as they become available.

If they do introduce AR coating, they will probably wait for the development of a whole new model. As it is now, their watches are really legible.

If they develop a watch which requires a crystal shape prone to glare, maybe they'll use a coating.

As if they haven't released lots of new models. Like DJ II, Skydweller, the new day-date 40m, 39mm explorer and 42mm explorer II in just the past few years.

Saying Rolex isn't a micro-brand as if it's relevant is simply stupid. Lange isn't a microbrand either. And lange has been using AR coating since all of those rolex models have been released. Is Omega a microbrand? Or IWC?

It can be anything. Dive watches like the sub, and some sports watches more generally, especially tend to eschew exterior AR coatings because they're not as scratch resistance as the underlying crystal. That being said AR coatings while diving can help you from accidentally flashing your shiny crystal where you don't want it to shine. Certain animals tend to like and go after shiny things, like octopus and barracuda.

It's probably more about cost savings than anything else.

>>61886420

Should I buy one of those invicta with the seiko movement? I'd need a watch that I don't really care about losing. I wouldn't get one of those garish golden ones though.

Actually, it's my experience that Rolex crystals tend to show reflections far less than most other uncoated crystals do, I think it's because of how thick Rolex crystals are.

Internal AR seems fair to expect in a high end watch no? I have never really no taxes an issue but it would be a nice addition.

a lot of people don't like it an associate it with cheaper watches. It is hard for Rolex to change things quickly given how much of a name they have made for themselves over the years.

SARB035 or 033, probably. Especially if it's your only watch and you want something that's "just a watch" with no special requirements and you want to wear it to work and stuff. It's simple and looks sharp, I don't see much point spending more unless you want to get a Grand Seiko or a Datejust or something which are well above $1000 and are basically the big-boy versions of the SARB.

Now, if you want something dressier or sportier or flashier or a diver or a field watch or you don't like bracelets or there's something else in particular you want then there's tons and tons of options, but for just an inoffensive respectable style this is a very good choice.
>>
>>61889286

If you want a serious response for one tell me what the watch is for. Do you plan on wearing it every day do you own your own business? Do you work in an office? Do you work outside? Do you want a dress watch? Something rugged you can swim with?
>>
>>61889416
man i know these are good value for money and what not but can we please chill with posting sarbs and sarxs they really are not very attractive... and they don't say anything about you.. its like driving a fucking Toyota Camry. We all get why people buy them but its fucking boring....
>>
>>61889355
>>61889416
I am buying up a lot of cheap watches atm, like under 50 bucks.
But I'll have a huge business done in like 3 weeks and I'll earn $12k so I decided to buy something a bit nicer but I usually don't spend more than 10% on things. I might go up to 1500 and buy a tudor or something similar used.
>>61889340
>>61889404
I'll keep these in mind
>>61889438
I would only wear it on special events like my birthday or family meet-ups, also I would like it to be dual-tone but haven't really decided on the style yet, that's why I was asking to see what pieces I could work with.
>>
>>61889588
Check out Hamilton, Nomos, Vintage Omega, Junghans, and Sinn

don't skimp on your research, get something you really like money is harder to make then to spend.
>>
>>61889588
You can get a lot or really cool stuff used for $1500-2000. You might look at something like a Tudor Oyster Prince (Day-)Date if you want something two-tone.
>>
>>61889462
Well if someone asks HEY WHAT CAR IS GOOD without specifying a single damn thing except maybe a broad price range, then you would probably recommend a Camry. So similarly, a SARB is probably a boring safe choice for someone who wants a decent watch and doesn't give a shit about the fine details beyond that.
>>
>>61889732
Already checked out most of the offering from those brands, but I want a watch from a brand that is a bit more known to non-watch guys
I am thinking about a tag heuer, zenith, omega, tudor, rolex (lol jk, next time maybe).

It is indeed legit, and I've bought a some non watch stuff from there before, but I genuinely believe that there's some shady shit going on. For example; I've seen the same lot of 5 Canon 5D MKIIs go up for like the 4th time now, and I wouldn't doubt if Goodwill employees shill the bids to get more for an item since it's their own site and it's their own rules.
