8700k is going to be the default choice for people who want maximum gaming performance isn't it?
>>61873337
depends on default clocks on all cores. if it's sub 4GHz no one will switch say from 7700k of even 4790k
>>61873337
Pretty much.
they aren't going to come close to the 1600 price though so it'll only be the intel fanboys and kids with no care of price/perf who get it.
>>61873337
>3.7GHz
>>61873441
It's supposed to boost to 4.2 or so on all cores
>>61873337
high single thread clocks for gaming
many cores for everything else
>>61873441
supposed to be 4.3ghz on all 6 cores and 4.7ghz single
should be able to OC and get at least 4.7ghz on all 6

Is it going to be a mess like the 7900x or no?
>>61873415
what about people that just think an extra $100 is worth more performance?
>>61873557
it's a 7700k with minor improvements, a better chipset and 6c/12t at probably same price as 7700k so $350~
it doesn't use mesh bus like the HEDT Intel chips so it won't suffer from the same game unfriendly latency issues. 7700k is already gaming king by a mile and this will be that plus a little extra and two more cores.
>>61873530
All the clockspeeds we've heard so far are rumors.
>>61873600
>probably same price as 7700k so $350~
What do you want to bet Intel will price it the same as the 6 core 7800X? They just released that shit, too.
>>61873616
7800X is in an entirely different segment and has an entirely different architecture
8700k is replacing 7700k and im already seeing retailers drop 7700k prices (Microcenter has them for $280 right now). 7800X is $400 and will be better at some things than 8700k and 8700k will be $350~ and will be better at some things than 7800X.
>>61873701
Microcenter always has crazy sales. Remember when Ryzen released and everyone was convinced Intel dropped their prices? lol.

>7800X is $400 and will be better at some things than 8700K
Name even one. Because I can guarantee you the mesh and cache changes to Skylake-X don't do a hell of a lot for a 6 core CPU except mess things up.
