running arch Linux on a C2Q machine a while back i opened up htop and monitored ram usage from chromium, then Firefox with more and more tabs open. Chromium got to 14 tabs before hitting 1GB of ram usage, Firefox got to 17. It should be noted that Firefox uses a lot more CPU fsm. 14 tabs and not even one GB of ram is not "consuming a lot of memory", even if it is more memory per tab than Firefox so stop spreading this shitty fucking meme
