Not kidding here, I actually went there for a couple of years when moot cucked us out and the whole mod leak happened. I'll give you the short and simple run down of everything that went wrong.

That site was in the asscrack of the internet before Gamergate. Notice how /v/ and /pol/ are the two top board there? That's why. Freddy or the genetic dud as we'll call him came up with the idea for the site when tripping on shrooms (I'm not shitting you).

He had a broship with Joshua Moon and equally bad coder programmer etc. Things went smooth until Gamergate came along and the dud had to make space for actual server use. He was originally heavily involved with Gamergate but that shit wore him down over time due to childish scandals, in fights and drama perpetuated by BOs from the /v/ board and Twatter cliques. The dud lost interest in being invested in the site even when the current GG board's BO collected info on posters he didn't like and sent that shit to the FBI hoping they would get V& for shit posting and then cried that the very same people tried to swat him when later digging showed that he lied about the whole thing and even the local PD agreed.

This is only a small sample of the regular drama that went on there that caused a schism in the community itself and the whole hostile takeover of the /pol/ board was an even bigger shit show.

Fast forward and the site not only had jaded SJWs cutting off all funding to the site, but it was getting hit with the lizardskid's DDoS tool on a regular basis. Some theorize it was Jim (2ch's owner) more on that later and Jim came in and "generously" offered server space and protection to the dud "out of the goodness of his own heart". Does this shit sound familiar? It should because this is exactly the same circumstances that began when Jim came under control of 2ch. This ending was no different.

By some shady paperwork behind closed doors Jim now owns the site.

With its already dead userbase, there was a hack back on April 1st that wiped the entire site, so they had to restore from a backup that was several months old, driving away the last of its users

Josh tried to split and make 16 chan based off of the original ideals behind eight chan, but fell short of time and money to maintain it, shutting it down after just a few weeks

This caused a shift in friendship between Josh and the dud and the site was site haywire and the dud conveniently blamed it all on Josh. To date the site is a hughox that only houses the crowds who originally came from Gamergate and the Redditards who they attracted. The parity it has with 7chan is astounding because GGers are like the new maskfags. moot kicked them off the site so they went to another site to maskfag. They couldn't culturally transcend Gamergate so they stagnated and died yet still have the hubris to believe they are superior to us. History repeats itself.

The userbase is so stratified; multiple tech-related boards with overlapping demographics. Plus, no custom CSS `a la 4chanX including kind of imperative stuff if you're dealing with multiple slow boards like thread watching and cross-board filters.

8ch isn't a site like a forum like wakachan or 4-ch where there's only really one board that everyone browses, and there's a clear delineation between other interest boards.

Nah, I should had probably worded that better. The one who did this was the owner of the current Gamergate board, AcidMan AKA Cole Lamberson. In the beginning there was the original /gg/ board run by NikiofDeath. At the time the dud was heavily involved with the GG community since it gave his site life.

During this time there were polls on the /v/ board to decide which GG board would represent them. Mark, the owner of the /v/ board rigged the choices so only boards his clique liked would be there. His main man he backed was AcidMan who is possibly the biggest lolcow in imageboard history. The doxing and digging on him on the /cow/ and /baphomet/ boards are things of legend.

Acidman instantly set up a cucked rulebook for the board, instigated cross board raids and fights along with his buddies on the sub Reddit board Kotaku in Action and was generally a horrible liar. He also tried to get people to attack the community Voat which should have been where GG migrated to after Reddit cucked them out, but they didn't have the balls or foresight and AcidMan didn't like the people who posted there so he tried to raid it instead, and failed.

He most famously lied about being swatted which he used to justify doxing posters he didn't like and try to hand their info to the FBI. The dud surprisingly did nothing about an FBI snitch but trolling your own board was off limits.

Watkins made a silent coup on Hiroyuki and took over his domain, then the 2ch owned by Watkins was hacked and was revealed he was selling data AND that Hiroyuki wasn't the owner anymore. Later on, Jim Watkins offered free hosting to eightchan's former owner, hotwheels, but during a mysterious DDoS to the website he deviated the traffic to a domain of his own, nobody noticed. He is now the owner of eightchan, the wheel guy is no longer the owner, just a janitor with high privileges (or not so).

Blocking the creation of more boards, avoiding the purge from bad mods and the racist groups that landed on /pol/, making a coup in 4chan and silently sending people to the other chan are the strategies of these assholes.

This is not an accusation against Hiroyuki or is talking about 4chan been redirected, the real scammer is Jim Watkins and the redirect was long ago done in 2ch and 8ch, not 4chan.
