Basically you will put that keyboard cover on top of nasty tables resulting in a nasty keyboard.

There's a tablet that's coming out that's exactly like the surface pro but it has USBC thunderbolt fullsized USB 3, stylus, and the keyboard all packaged in at a lower price than the Surface.

I have a pro 4 and love it.
I am a big fan of my pro 4, just wish I shelled out for an 8gb ram version.

Pen is good, screen is great, battery is ok, stand is good, on your lap it isn't, keyboard is good.

great device to capture notes in uni or whatever. for comfy use just take off the keyboard.

2 year pro 4 owner here, used it for taking notes in uni, so here's my take on how it actually is to use day-to-day for things other than using social media and making tech reviews.
It's AMAZING for how portable it is, and the keyboard is honestly better than a lot of laptop keyboards. The trackpad is as close as you can get to a macbook's. The pen is great if you actually use it a lot, but mine's had half of the paint peel off and now it doesn't work half the time. Apparently if I take it to a MS store and they're not cunts they'll replace it no questions asked (just how their customer service is).
The stand is 10/10, works really well but has some limitations. For example, you might have to put your surface in different, sometimes more awkward positions than a regular laptop. In a lot of classes I'd be in a lecture seat with a fold out table thing to write on/put laptops on, but sometimes the stand in its regular position would be hanging partially off the edge, not ideal. In your lap it'll be a bit different too.
The biggest thing to know though, is that in bed it can be a pain to use compared to a regular laptop. Back with my thinkpad I'd just leave it on my chest and be able to use it, see the screen, etc. With the surface you can't lean the screen forward because there's no hinge, so you're stuck with it being at best vertical while trying to look at it unless you're willing to hold it the whole time you use it (Fine if you're just watching videos or something). So obviously, use it on the side, right? You can just prop it up on the side and with the hinge popped out it's pretty stable, right? Well fuck you, if you use it on its side the keyboard doesn't activate, as if it's folded back. So again, unless you only want to use the touchscreen, you can't lie on your side in bed and use it. Still, getting over that kind of crap it's very nice to use.
If you've got any questions, feel free to ask. I love my surface but it's definitely not for everyone.
+ it's the apple of windows
- it's not apple
Microsoft’s Surface laptops and tablets have lost their stamp of approval from Consumer Reports. After surveying 90,000 Surface owners, the publication estimated that 25% of owners will run into reliability problems within two years of ownership, Reuters reports. Those results led Consumer Reports to drop its “recommended” label across the Surface product line.

Op here thinking about the pro4 m3(mostly because of price now when the new one is out). Because I am uni student. What specs is in on yours and how is the battery life?
>>61849786
I got mine with an i7 'cause someone else was paying and I wanted the mildly better GPU.
Battery life depended entirely on what I was doing, with low brightness and just something like word open, it'd probably drop 9-10% per hour or thereabouts, meanwhile if I was being stupid and had onenote open with a ridiculously long page of notes (instead of having separate pages for separate topics/days like I should've done, just had one page per class) it'd probably be closer to 2x that. With average use, web browsing and whatever, I'd assume 6-8 hours. Generally no problems going through a day of class, but the charger is small/light enough that I take it with me normally anyways. It has a USB port on it for charging shit so it doubles as my phone charger too.
