Why does no one believe in freedom/privacy on the Internet anymore?
The vast majority of people are idiots

Because it's a lie. Anybody that thinks privacy on the internet are completely retarded. That's for sure.

A little bit of this, but a lot of it is simply people being too entertained to care. Some Brave New World shit.
Mozilla in particular is starting their initiative to combat misinformation online, but who the fuck is Mozilla to say what's truth and what's "misinformation?"
Mass Internet censorship, at least attempts, are going to happen in the next decade. I hope people stop being entertained for 5 minutes and pay attention

Dumbass of a newfag needs to lurk more. If you bothered to watch the threads a bit more you'd know that /g/ says the answer every so often. Anyways, you're a newfag, so I'll help you.

Because it's not a visceral issue.
Just like how medical malpractice kills magnitudes higher amounts of people than police in the US yet there aren't people going out and calling for the destruction of hospitals and doctors and labelling them all racist bigots.
The reality is that the only time people care about politics is when the issue is pop politics. All News station, political commentators, media, etc... Only talks about pop politics because real politics isn't engaging enough to be interesting. Even internet privacy/freedom is a topic infested by pop politics, hysteria, visceral reactions to doomsday headlines.
The reality is that the average person does not care and the extent of their interest in politics is getting angry for a few minutes then watching entertainment. Political and intellectual discussion doesn't even matter. What ultimately matters is social politics as that's what causes change, for better or for worse. As long as change is done incrementally enough to be unnoticeable and not generate visceral reactions, it will continue. This change is only amplified if the topic is abstruse.

Watching everyone flip their shit over it is in itself entertaining.
You do know it won't be like this forever? There will be a shitty period for a very short time before everyone figures out it's impossible to actually accomplish and that censorship is foolish. There will be half-assed laws never enforced, ISP policies that nobody follows.
Sensibility and convenience will win in the end.

Idiot.

>Sensibility and convenience will win in the end.
Wrong. If people don't resist, the Internet will be packaged and sold the same way Cable TV is. When Cable started in the 70s, there were no commercials, but over time, through careful incremental changes, commercials were introduced. Now they are spammed all over TV.
Are commercials convenient for the viewer? Interrupting their program for 12 minutes in a 30 minute show? Hell no.
I realize you're an edgy, anarchist-wannabe, but you of all people should know how important the internet is.
I do, anon
