why would use molex for anything but fans
>he actually used a wired power connector
Molex to SATA lose your data
Is it really that bad? Should i buy a modern PSU with more SATA cables instead?
>>61839973
There literally no difference between the power coming out of a 'native' SATA power cable and a molex to sata cable.
It's just DC power at the same voltage.
Don't fall for the memes

You need to make sure you use a good one like pic related and not the ones with plastic injection molded around the wires.

Pic related is the fire hazard shit style

I didn't want to but I couldn't find any normal sata power cables with a straight connection (pic related without the molex) besides the ones my PSU came with, and I'm not spenting $60 on a whole new kit when I just need one wire. Elbows won't work for one of the drives in my case.

been using mine for over 5 years now, what the fuck are you doing to get it on fire?
>>61841339
This
I used to do this with a chink PSU. until i finally bought a proper PSU. Never had a housefire or anything close to it.

fucking hell op ! i have had the same thing happen to me - those adapters are absolute bottom of the barrel tier... the insulation chemically breaks down, it gets down to a few ohms and your power supply is pumps a few amps into a sparky smoldering fire...
i literally have had my pc catch fire for no reason a knock out a ssd in the process...
chinky adapters beware
