If it's a hard drive wipe it by dd'ing random data onto it, then wipe it back to zeroes the same way.

If it's an SSD just take it out and grind it into dust, there's no way to guarantee a wipe.

I've used Darik's Boot and Nuke. It's pretty straightforward I guess, but I don't know anything else so it might be absolute shit. Also only runs from disc and works on HDD not SSD, so maybe that won't work for you.
