Opera 12 was the best browser I ever used.
Is there any project to turn him into something?
>>
>>61836594
is this the
>very very popular program with 600gb source code
some guy promised to leak yesterday?
>>
>>61836708
No, this got leaked last year iirc.
>>
>>61836671
>Opera 12 was the best browser I ever used.
Indeed
>>
>>61836671
Yes, check the forums and the build that I posted links to. The build has some features added to it (such as the ability to open the session in the same window without having to check the checkbox every time and that it now backs up and restores the autosave.win, bookmarks.adr, and cookies4.dat automatically in order to prevent the loss of them when a power outage, etc. occurs) and some bugs (such as some crashes) fixed.

Just use vivaldi
>>
>>61836820
thx man, i knew it was a ruse all along

>so much hope lost for pshop on loonix
>>
Damn I was in the original thread, it doesn't seem to have seen many commits :(
>>
>>61836979
>>so much hope lost for pshop on loonix
How would the leaked source code help with that? Any compiled program could never be in any official repository, wine/Reactos devs would have to stay the fuck away from it, and no significant work force could dedicate itself to maintain the codebase without constant legal harassment.
>>
>>61836925
It takes up more disk space and RAM than Opera 12.15 does.
>>
Oh wow, I didn't realize /g/ is still talking about this.
>>
Help me out. I like this idea a lot. Opera 12 official is missing a lot of https support and I want to update it, but how the fuck do you compile this thing? I'd love to patch it and distribute a linux binary for the other 8 presto diehards that are still alive.
>>
If I unlazy myself I'll look into updating libvpx/VP9 support for windows.
>>
>>61838185
They haven't been, this is the first thread about it in months
>>
>>61838345
Please do that.

>>
>>61836594
If one were to build a modern browser on top of this code, would it be legal to release it under the GPL?
>>
>>61838403
No
>>
>>61838418
Well shit. So how do I replace Firefucks?
>>
>>61838256
Also, just input ./flower -v -j 1 when in the main directory of the source code.
>>
>>61838451
Progress! Every time I do this is gives an error. Every error lists a package at the end. Installing that package's devel version solves the problem but leads to another missing library. I hope this doesn't take forever.
Command exited with return code 1 (pkg-config --cflags --libs xrender)
>>
>>61838840
You should eventually stop needing to install packages. And, you're welcome.
>>
>>61836594
When is it going to support TLS1.2?
>>
>>61838428
you could try doing a clean room reimplenetation of the presto engine
>>
>>61836671
>him
Opera is a beautiful GIRL.

It fails. Compiling is hard. I don't even know what text to read to find out where the problem is. Scrolling through endless orange text I find these lines in white:
Makefile:62: recipe for target '/media/hammer/temp/prestocore-fan-presto-c357e547fcbd/build/bin/gstreamer/libgstoperavp8.so' failed
Makefile:43: recipe for target '/media/hammer/temp/prestocore-fan-presto-c357e547fcbd/build/bin/gstreamer/libgstoperamatroska.so' failed
make: Leaving directory '/media/hammer/temp/prestocore-fan-presto-c357e547fcbd/platforms/media_backends/gst/gst-opera/unix'

I installed the libvpx and libmatroska dev packages thinking it was more missing libraries but nothing. Maybe if there was some way of it telling me what the fuck it wants I would know what to do.
>>
>>61839117
When someone adds it, if the libvpx updating doesn't take too long/I don't run into many issues I can look into adding that support afterwards.
>>
>>61839117
It already supports TLS 1.2.
>>
>>61839246
>>61839241
nvm then, looks like support is already there
>>
>>61839228
Oh, you forgot to apply some patches. Please try applying the LinuxBuildFix.patch and LinuxReleaseFix.patch available at https://github.com/PrestoXen/openopera-patches.
>>
>>61836721
Shut up slut
>>
>>61839360
Its still up for me.
>>
>>61836820
Microsoft employee here, we are now ceasing all windows development and will begin funding every linux distro
>>
>>61839293
How do I apply the patches?
>>
>>61836925
why would i use a shit browser?
>>
>>61839447
Do patch -p0 < patch_file
>>
>>61839468
http://forum.timsky.ru/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=66
MOTHER OF FUCK.
Have I been applying these backwards? Is this why the patches failed?
>>
So...

The Russians are now developing a presto browser?

Inb4 second election hack
>>
>>61839563
Yes, they are the ones working on it now.
>>
>build fails
Fuck it. Starting over
>delete everything
>unzip source
>apply LinuxBuildFix.patch
>apply LinuxReleaseFix.patch
>apply nothing else
>./flower -v -j 1
>fails
Well fuck you too.

Try following the instructions mentioned on http://forum.timsky.ru/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=44.

Here's an archive of a thread that was made regarding Opera 12.15's source code:

https://warosu.org/g/thread/58544865
>>
>>61839789
A lot of it doesn't apply since I'm not on Debian or a derivative. But I am realizing all the errors are basically stemmed from missing packages. A dnf search can usually get me the name of the package I need and if it doesn't Google can usually lead me in the right direction. But once I get that done all I'm going to have is a compiled Opera 12 without any of the useful patches applied, so I get to do this twice anyway. What patches should be applied? Specifically, which one lets me go to places like the URL >>61839958 linked to without the "Unable to complete secure transaction" error?
>>
>>61840294
Try disabling SSL V3 and enabling the TLS options in the Security Protocols dialog box reachable by clicking Tools, Preferences, Advanced, Security, and finally Security Protocols.

The Ryzen meme is real. Holy shit. Pity, it compiles fast as fuck with 16 threads.
>>
>>61840761
Nope. Nothin'. Tried your suggestion. Tried turning them all on. All off. Sometimes HTTPS just doesn't work.
>>
>>61840991
I hate that they tried to pretend this wasn't a big problem.
>>
>>61841106
Try upgrading the OpenSSL or whatever library it uses for HTTPS connections.
>>
>>61841126
>only one anon on /g/ has encountered this problem so far and did it trying to build an unlawful source leak of a 5 year old program with patches picked almost at random for a github link.
>but it's a HUGE FUCKING DEAL
Anon plz.
>>61841157
Everything was up to date before I started, and I just checked, no new versions in the last 20 minutes.
>>
>>61841382
I mean, the version that Opera 12.15 uses.
>>
>>61841382
Oh, try disabling the option highlighted at opera:config#SecurityPrefs|OCSPValidateCertificates
>>
>>61841382
Kill yourself shill. My 1800X can barely go 10 minutes compiling a large C project before it segfaults. Not to mention the dozens of pages of online forums with people experiencing the same issue.
>>
>>61836925
It's not the same, coming from someone who has used both. I'd go back if I could feasibly do so.
>>
>>61836594
Dog bless all people who work on this. I still using old opera because everything else is just plain retarded. I guess I could make FF into something resembling opera functionality if I searched hard enough and installed over 9000 extensions, but at that point my ancient PC would commit suicide.
>>
>>61836820
aww it was potochop
>>
posting this from Opera 12.15. pretty comfy desu
