You silly amdplebs. You don't even understand what separates Intel from your pathetic little "competitor". No, it's not the fact that Intel CPUs outperform AMD """""cpus""""" in every unbiased and relevant benchmark. It's not the fact that Intel has a superior R&D team which is light years ahead of anything AMD can pull together. It's not even unmatched stability and reliability of Intel products. It's not even continuous revolutionary technological breakthroughs, which have shaped IT industry of today.

No.

It's the fact that you, AMDfags, you will always be silly plebs, penny-wise simpletons, chasing "more cores 4 cheap" and falling for AMD bait again and again.

People who are buying Intel products have a completely different mindset. We posses the mentality of Roman patricians, we are educated and enlightened, we are true blue blood aristocrats with noble and refined taste, who can easily afford to pay a little extra for a work of art. And yes, all Intel CPUs are such products. Exquisite, polished, flawless, refined. Made specifically for individuals who can appreciate these qualities.

AMD slaves will never be able to understand this... like a filthy hairy barbarian will never be able to understand Caesar. You will never be able to get it. All you AMD serfs can do is to chase muh cores and few extra fps in pleb games. You will never be among us, among the select few, among the chosen people. Let that sink in, AMDpeasants.
Ave Intel!

it's probably binning from epyc chips, if it didn't have dummy cores it'd need a different socket than epyc and probably different heatsinks making both products far more expensive and more niche, they did something similar with the 3 core phenoms a while back

Don't worry anon.
What TR did to Intel is that now, they can't really keep the clocks up on more than 10 cores SKUS without making them look like absolute housefires.
18 cores is gonna barely outperform the 7900X, because it's gonna run that much slower.

I won't even consider AMD as an option until all the problems they have with vfio are sorted.
Having more cores would be nice for cpu pinning but they don't seem to have an option with an iGPU. I do have an older dGPU now but I would need to buy a higher wattage PSU to accommodate both which is wasteful.

Which is why its worthless on a product that is explicitly designed for parrallel throughput. All CS:GO testing for ANY chip in the HEDT market is just retarded reviewers trying to appeal to retarded gamers who can't understand an indepth analysis of a product to save their life.

In fact CS:GO is irrelevant full stop because - shockingly - it doesn't even linearly scale with single thread performance because it doesn't use modern instruction sets explicitly designed to increase throughput.

But the point is, Threadripper is a middle ground between something like a Xeon which someone would never ever use for gaming, and a i5 someone would never ever use for productivity work. The kind of people Threadripper was/is marketed at are people who are primarily after extreme productivity performance, but may also want good gaming performance. Don't try and pretend AMD didn't market it also as a gaming chip in addition to having strong productivity performance, they wouldn't have included the 'gamer' mode otherwise, and the launch motherboards wouldn't all be RGB crap.

In my opinion Threadrippers gaming performance is kind of a disaster, but it obviously shits all over anything in the i9 line for any real work, especially from a price to performance standpoint. The reality is a lot of people were expecting Threadripper to be a 6950X type CPU, with godlike performance in everything, it BTFO's Intel in productivity but gaming performance is nonexistent.
>>
>>61832762
AMD probably chose such design because of better thermals (more separated cpu-s) and cost efficiency. They probably assemble epyc cpu-s on the same line. And maybe they use threadripper as a test bench for epyc to make sure that everything works.
>>
>>61837975
It's another thing where some games have launch issues just like they did with Ryzen. Workaround is to set gaming mode and use Process Lasso to force games to run on one die so they aren't jumping all over the place from one die to another and causing massive 200nm memory access latency spikes.

We had saw the same issues with ryzen and history is repeating itself. Cross die latency wont change but you can modify a program/scheduler so that it doesnt cause unnecessary and avoidable cross die communication, which affects performance. The consumer market hasn't seen anything other than monolithic designs for almost a decade so software adjustments are going to be needed. At least AMD added the NUMA option as a somewhat preemptive measure.
