Why the fuck hasn't anyone been able to make a better search

Google has been at the top for so long that they now basically force websites to conform to their algorithms and whims. Nobody can index them better than google because everything is optimized specifically for google.

The longer your search engine runs the more data you collect. The more data you collect, the easier it is for the algos to find matching results. The easier it is to find matching results, the better the user experience. And since everything is optimized to feed Google data, this wont ever change unless theres ever are diminishing returns to data, which wont happen since data is constantly changing.

Because making a search engine from scratch (as in "that doesn't use another search engine") is really hard.

It requires a robot able of crawling the whole web and storing gathered information on servers.

That means it requires a huge battery of fast servers to store all the gathered data (websites, content keywords, links and relations between websites, etc etc)

It requires a solid and performant (most likely written in a language close to the metal like C, C++, Go, Rust, D, etc) content indexer to browse all the data gathered in the previously mentionned servers, because if your content isn't indexed properly and regularly its like a fucking database, its gonna become slow as hell.

Then finally you need a web interface to query the said battery of servers through the indexer (which could generate a huuuuge hash table containing sub hash tables containing sub hash tables, i.e).

Not directly on ethereum since their tech is not fast, they trade speed for a secure environment. You could do reward systems using ethereum also logins attached with walllets, and maybe use golem for the rest but golem tech is still in it's infancy.

There is a maidsafe too, also ethereum will implement swarm, there is a sia, etc. No mater how their implementation looks relatively long term, can we agree, that the only way to avoid google kind of monopoly, over everyday life is the decentralized web 3.0 ?

An effort to create a freedom index from which many different search engines can use is the only way to compete. It will be hard, and expensive, and thankless.

A private company having a monopoly over search cannot continue forever. Either free competition disrupts it, or the law eventually does. It could get so bad that lawyers could argue that search is a public service, not a private product.
