>backlight bleed
Is it just a fact of life for all IPS displays?
Do Macbooks do this too?
It's called an LCD. It's working normally.
If you want better VQ, get a CRT.

>Do Macbooks do this too?
lol no, neither do apple cinema displays

Yes, it exists on all IPS monitors, but it's different for every panel. The amount on this picture is pretty extreme and it can be almost invisible unless you look at it really hard in a completely dark room.

That is a defect level of backlight bleed. Assuming it's not the power button reflecting off the screen.

I'm on my third replacement from the retailer now, and it's been this bad on all 3 laptops.
I do want it to go away since it kind of hinders accurate color rendering for the light graphics editing I do for my job, but this seems to be the norm for this HP model.
Wondering if I should return it for good and get a Macbook, but then /g/ will think I'm le faggót

Stop buying cheap HP garbage IMO.

b-but it was $1200

macbooks (at least the older models) have it a lot worse.
There, light bleeds through the logo, so you get a giant blob of discoloration in the middle of the screen at the shape of an apple logo.

My Thinkpad T60p with the UXGA screen does not have this problem.

HP consumer laptops are terrible, should have bought an elitebook or thinkpad
>>61817705
you wouldn't have that with a latitude. HP are really, really shit anon. At least Applel will only use high grade panels.

>Do Macbooks do this too?
Fuck no. I manage about 40+ macs for a company I work for and I've never seen a mac screen bleed. those things look perfect.
wish my work would buy me one tho...
ps: HP is literal shit. they even outsourced their laptop development.
