Somehow managed to get my hands on the source code of a very, very popular program. Full source code. The only issue is that it is very, very large (around 600gb). I've looked through it and there is a lot I could remove, but I want to keep it in it's entirety.

Where can I upload this? I want a place where it won't get taken down almost instantly. My internet connection is pretty decent so it won't take too long to upload (overnight or so). I also need to be anonymous because this company is pretty fucking big and has quite a decent stack of money. I was thinking torrent? But that being said I don't want to use much of my bandwidth

Pic unrelated
>>
>>61812599
Torrent is really the only option
Uploading to some site somewhere would get taken down immediately, and not many place would support a 600 GB upload

Windows source code is in the terabytes
Pure source with all comments is much larger than when its compiled

Machine generated XML and shit like that.
A lot of source code, while technically being readable, is horrifically inefficient. Think of the CS grad memes that print prime numbers by simply compiling them all into the source code.

PC release, OSX release, ios/android, and a few other special ARM builds, and a build for something called "RF23DS".

Just make it a torrent and after a few people are able to seed it, you can stop since you don't want to use too much of your bandwidth. Conversely you can also throw it up onto a webserver you "own" and people can download it and redistribute it from there.

Just a heads up OP, if you were retarded enough to use Win 10, it clearly states in its privacy policy that it scans your files to check for things that infringe on Microsofts and other companies copyright
So if you are using Win 10 there's a good chance they already know and are on their way to confiscate your machine
Quickly make a torrent so as many people can seed as possible

Seriously, don't leak it. You WILL get caught.

I'm not kidding. I don't know how you acquired it, but the company will check the leaked version and see who has access to the source and you WILL be on that list.

From that they will check how and what method you used to export this from the company. If you were stupid enough to pull it from a file server and put it onto a hard drive - they will know that you used a USB device on your pc and transferred the source onto that drive.
>>
>>61813416

>>
>>61813416

Not necessarily, only if they have the software.
A couple of months ago one lad tried to sell the Yandex source code, got caught by the FSB only after he posted the ad on some forums (!) and came to make the deal in person.
>>
>>61812877
Gee, how new are you?
>>
I've leaked source before. Granted nothing to the scope op is referring to but it's gotten close

I'm interested in what specifically this program is. Recently windows source made it's way to beta archive and was removed so if this is the same deal then Torrenting, although not secure will be your best bet
>>
>>61813416
Not really, the probability of finding OP is good only if he tries to sell it and makes mistakes.
But just dumping it is another issue.
>>
>>61813476
If you don't mind me asking, what have you leaked?
>>
>>61813444

Would it not be fair to assume best practice? Especially if we're talking life changing impact.

Besides, regardless of whether they have the particular technologies. If they're well funded, they will hire a forensic company to investigate the leak and I certainly wouldn't bet my life on them not finding something traceable.

I disagree.

We don't know the company that the source code comes from, you really, really shouldn't assume you can obtain this without a trail if you're not forensically qualifed/experienced.
>>
>>61813486
Yes, ofc it's better to assume the worst, maybe it's better to wait for a couple of years. Most companies probably wouldn't store log files older than 3 yrs.

You need an onion/dark web based torrent.
Buy multiple seedboxes, multiple countries, multiple hosting providers.
If you REALLY wanted it to be unstoppable, you could trying paying a botnet owner for super specialised distributed hosting.

Also, filling up ~100 hard discs and posting them to random Russian addresses would more or less accomplish the same thing.

Cut it down as much as you can. Chances are that code include a lot of old versions of stuff, so just upload the relevant stuff.

Secondly, you fucked up already. Posting on 4chan about how you have source code basically means that the first thing that happens when sheckleberg's lawyers look for someone to sue is they do a couple google searches looking for posts online. They then bribe hiroshimoot into giving them your IP, and then they get the ISP to give them your name and details.

In short, you fucked up already. You can't leak this safely now.

Maybe you could try with an SSD, or even better with a bunch of large (like the 128GB ones) SD cards carrying the split archive, but you'll pay out of your ass for the media.

Still the best way would be to upload it from behind 7 proxies, via a connection that's not yours (public wifi you can use covertly because cctv again), from a throwaway machine, through VPN's/proxies/seedboxes purchased with BTC.

There are ways to do it securely enough, but since OP has to ask on 4chan he will probably fuck it up, or already has fucked up (see >>61813416). Also I give it 9/10 probability that OP doesn't have jack shit and we all got baited.

Let's try and figure out what the source code is from since OP won't answer
All we know it that it is a large program and that it has several versions >>61812668 and is owned by a large company

What programs would fall under this category?
>>
maybe try lrzip, apparently it can compress 40 versions of the linux kernel source (10.3GB) down to 163.9MB: https://lkml.org/lkml/2011/6/4/23
>>
>>61821983
keep in mind a tarball of each point release of linux 2.6.x contains a lot of redundant data, and lrzip is designed to exploit that
that said, op's dataset might also be highly redundant, in which case, lrzip would be perfect
hell, even if it's not, i'd still recommend lrzip, it's faster than 7z most of the time, and usually compresses better than it, too

If it is one of those huge applications that doesn't work on Linux and you can't make a Foss clone of the source code... Do you think they would be willing to accept a patch should someone make a native Linux fork?

>>61822730
No
There is already a fuck ton of legal issues with having the sourced leaked like that in the first place
But then having to include those that added commits into the license after its been broken would be a really bad legal case

And plus with a version of the source code out there that is compatible by anyone and works on Linux, why would anyone want to buy it after that?

Its already one of the most pirated programs of all time, and having its source all over the internet with version that work on more systems and have the DRM removed would be really bad for them

HOWEVER
It is the most pirated program because no single person wants to pay that amount of money to make fun and ransom shit

Those people aren't Adobes target audience, its businesses and studios, because they actually pay for the software

So if someone ported Photoshop to Linux for free, and it worked as well or better than its Windows or OSX counterparts, then Adobe would probably accept the commits and release it for Linux, causing potential for huge growth of Linux among artists

Based on this I don't think it could be anything in the list, although I'm not sure of all the platforms that those programs do target. Photoshop is probably the closest, as it has the Photoshop Express stuff for iOS/android I believe.

4chan saves user data, and historically complies with any copyright/government notices

Supposing he really does post a torrent to something like Photoshop, Adobe will not hesitate to assfuck him as hard as they possibly can. Posting from a VPN might be more viable, but of course you can't post on this site through VPNs.

You can adjust the relative quality by changing the divisor in the problem after the b:v entry. The divisor is usually equal to the time in seconds of your video, but you can increase or decrease if you want to optimize filesize or quality.
