Is it very useful? What are your opinions on it?

It's good. Useful language with intelligent syntax. Like c# better though.

it is indeed very usefull
the best thing is the wide availability of libraries and learning resources
It's fine. You end up writing more code than in other languages but it's fairly explicit and good for projects with large teams.
I just learned swift and really like it. It's strongly typed and catches most problems at compile time so good for large teams but you also write much less code than Java.

I don't like the language itself, but the portability that the JVM provides is really nice.

Easy to read and maintain; hate writing it though. Makes sense considering it was designed for enterprise.

I don't use it because I try to acoid technologies driven by big, in my opinion unethical companies. The same goes for any MS products like C#, and Novell (now microfocus).
Novell is a personal reason more than any. Ex-employee here. I saw their business practices first hand.

I always feel like I'm being strangled by it. Everything I do needs to be spelled out step by tedious step. In that sense, it's succeeding. Java is very readable, even by idiots.
