I can tell you two things. We have more societal/statistical data than any other kind. We have very little data that translate biological to neuro-chemical to societal consequence etc versus societal consequence to say societal trend, in comparison.

Same reason modern medicine treats for symptoms instead of treating the problem in the brain. Most of our current science is shooting blind and then trying to back track to the cause instead of say figuring out why certain chemicals at a certain stage = (a) problem.

Which is why most people treat anything to do with psychology like a joke and anything to really do with the brain is still decades away from true application. Medicine, recovering from brain injuries, solving spinal cord tissue damage, repairing the brain, understanding brain phenotype in terms of identity, gender identity and how that can be tracked out to individual genes/behaviors.

People that argue science isn't there don't know how in the dark we still are about a lot of things and are talking out of their collective asses/feelings, especially liberals. So stop acting like you're any better than the other side.

You can tell a lot of the people commenting here have never worked a real job where employees are held to higher standard than the average person posting shit on the internet. This guy screwed up in at least three ways if you're working in a professional environment for a large corporation.

First, you don't ever want to rock the boat when it comes to stuff that has nothing to do with work. Don't start talking shit behind people's backs, don't rant about politics, and don't start talking shit about particular groups in society, especially when they are present in the workplace in large numbers.

Second, don't make the company look bad in public, regardless of your intentions. You always have to assume that emails will get forwarded, and even stuff that might read like a joke to a friend might not read as a joke to Carol down the hall. Everything you send to people can easily become public, as this guy found out. They don't want to be compared to Uber in the evening news for having a toxic culture.

And third, don't become a legal liability for the company. If Google passively condoned this, they could be sued for discrimination. That lawsuit would cost the company more than this guy will ever contribute in all likelihood.

This guy found a way to piss off other employees, he made Google look bad, and if they didn't fire him they'd be at greater risk of a lawsuit. They had no choice but to fire him. Any other respectable company would have done the same. If you ever consider writing a manifesto at work to send to your co-workers, it's probably a good idea to rethink your life choices if you don't want to get fired.
