Just got a UCA202 and it's surprisingly usable and noise-free as an audio interface. Equalizer APO installs to it perfectly. I couldn't be happier for the low price. Yes, I know about the output impedance. Will use it to record guitar and play back through powered speakers.

The build quality was. Snapped hinges. That's the 3rd broken time. I was able to fix it with glue the other times but it's getting ridiculous. Usual problems with pleather deteriorating on all the pads. Sound was really bad without an EQ, but with EQ they're decent enough on the mids /highs with that monster bass hit that almost makes up for it

Super comfy for moderate to long sessions. I perfer headphones with some kind of cloth on them like satin or velvet.

If you don't mind open back cans, they're a good deal. They measure better than most headphones at that price in both distortion and fqr. The things to consider are:
1. You'll be waiting months to get them because it's a massdrop made thing.
2.hifiman has a reputation for poor customer service. The build quality is fine on them and people shitting on them for that seem to forget that almost every major headphone maker has issues with quality that are just as bad if not worse.
3. You'll need an amp.

If you need new headphones immediately, get the ath-m40x or ath-msr7. The m40x measure flatter then the m50x and the msr7 are god tier sound, build quality, and looks.

I personally think planars (or headphone "tech" in general) is a meme, as what matters really is the results.

Framesize is the length of a frame in milliseconds. As it's necessary to have a whole frame at hand for decoding (and playing) it, small framesizes are important in videoconference and such, where latency matters.
If you're encoding music, the default should serve you well. There's also no benefit on using bigger frames than the default unless your bitrate is very low.

Looking into getting a new pair of headphones. I'm not incredibly picky and I wouldn't consider myself an audiophile autist. I primarily listen to Metal and similar music, so I don't really expect any remarkable performance to bring out the details in the sound, but I do listen to other genres. I like listneing to Jazz and Ambient, so I would like a pair of headphones that sound fine with shitty knuckle dragging Metal and a genre like Jazz.
I want to avoid any pair that can potentially be fatiguing. I had a pair of Sennheiser HD280s and the combination of their ridiculously uncomfortable fit and fatiguing and thin sound started to drive me crazy. I've been told Grados are excellent for rock and Metal music, but I've also heard they are extremely harsh and I'm worried it's going to drive me nuts just like the HD280s. I don't care about muh bass but I do want it to be adequate.

I own and enjoy my dt990 but I'm starting to look for something new. Probably going to go with the HE-400i and a $100 IEM(thinking the smigot en700) because critical listening isn't the same as enjoying music.
