I've been using Cherry Blacks on a 60% and most switches are already smoother than stock. How much longer do I need to use this before I can sell them as vintage blacks?

I'm thinking another two years to make sure the less used keys are really smoothed out.

Does anyone sell stepped caps lock with a centered stem in Cherry profile?

I just got some caps and was stoked for a stepped caps only to find out it was off center stem and my board doesn't support it.

Both honestly.
I usually hit all the stepped keys dead center. But every now and then when i'm typing fast ill hit one off center and it fucks me up.

What's a good aftermarket wrist rest?
My K70 came with a wrist rest but I have huge hands and if I put it on my wrists are still resting on the desk so it's basically useless for me.

Or should I just go to my grandfather's workshop and make my own?

A local guy is selling his half-year-old black HHKB for around $167 (30% off the retail price where I live).
Is it worth it? Sure it's used, but it's still a legit HHKB.
>>

>>

worth, if you don't like it you can flip it for profit
>>
>>61776623
Doesn't the rubber in topre gets stiffen with time?
>>
>>61777151
Depends on the price (and age)

If they're so old they're worth €30, you'll either pocket €10 or have to try to sell it for €50, neither of which are very good. If, however, you sell it for €150, you can easily afford to offer free shipping
>>

Most people don't like DSA profile, while Tada comes with the universally loved Cherry profile. Also, there's the glaring problem of the oversized esc and del key.
>>
>>61779001
Only the PBT model is worth getting.
>>
>>61779168
>Most people don't like DSA profile
Hmmm not what I've seen so far. DSA is pretty popular both at Geekhack and r/mk
>>
Guise i need your opinion.
I currently have a keyboard with aristotle switches. But they are failing due to their age i guess the metal contacts are the problem. So i have a budget of 50 bux and was thinking of either buying gateron blue switches and doing the gateron + aristotle mod or buying a new board with gateron blue and doing the mod there or not at all if it's not worth it.

>>61781032
Try a model M or a Dell at101 with black or white alps. Both can be bought for less than $50 in good condition and at the most $100 for great condition. If you don't want to gamble on used alps, wait a bit for matias to release their new keyboards or get a kbp v60 or v80. Their clicky and quiet click switches are very good and smooth.
You can try unicomp for a "new" model m, but I don't recommend them because they are dodgy on quality.
Topre is the last option, but that's breaking into $200+ territory and I personally don't think they are that great.

Do you guys consider chicklet keyboards mechanical?
I've got these two, the first one is the Magicforce Quisan keyboard Outemu brown switches, the other one is the Surface Keyboard, which has apple style switches(chicklet) and has more premium quality feel than the chinky one.

I fear I'm starting to like the microsoft one way better, the magicforce feels wobbly and cheap in comparison.
Help me I fear I'll become a faggot (if that's not bad already I also have a Surface pro 4)
>>
>>61781510
Mostly, design inertia. Same reason Mini-USB is still the standard connector for custom mechanical keyboards, because it's always been that way and so many things are built around it that it's hard to change.

>Why are mechanical keyboard communities obsessed with shitty Cherry switches and their clones then? I just don't get it anymore.
Cheap and standardized stem and base dimensions.

ALPS/Matias and Topre are both superior to Cherry. Cherry's garbage that requires lubrication not to feel sandy/scratchy. And even then they feel like shit.

I'm gonna build a 75% board with Matias switches when I get some free time. Already ordered the switches.
>>
>>61781579
>Do you guys consider chicklet keyboards mechanical?
No. By definition mechanical keyboards are those that use springs in their switches. Chiclet keyboards use rubber domes to actuate.

that's because it is a little cheap. more pricey boards with cherry switches and pbt keycaps will feel better (depending on whether you prefer gateron or not) and have less wobble. just use what you like though, don't worry about having a mech

No.
The actuation and contact have to be made by a mecanism of springs and metal leafs.

Have a Ducky DK2108S and honestly if it were RGB I'd be set for life but I want to upgrade.

Is there a type of switch that feels like a broken-in cherry blue? Like basically a blue with less actuation force? This one feels like it's easier than it always used to be and I am actually kind of liking the feeling.

I just bought a Majestouch 2 for $90, was it a good deal? And is it still a good keyboard @ stock? My knowledge is a few years behind.

Also did CM discontinue the Quickfire series?

How is it that a cheap 10 dollar membrane is more reliable than this piece of shit? How does corsair get away with this?

It's some piece of shit iron that was at a school that I was teaching kids at for a week. The handle just came right off, exposing the live wires. Alas, I salvaged the power cable and threw the iron in the trash.

Hey dude check it out, see this gun? If it somehow fails I'll have another gun as back up, this one here. And if something ever happens to THIS gun, I'll have ANOTHER back up gun, which is effectively the backup gun to my backup gun. But hold on a second anon, there's more. A have another back up gun, one specially made and tailored as a backup gun for my backup gun's backup gun, which in fact perfectly suits my backup gun's backup gun for my backup gun's backup gun, because it itself is a backup gun for said backup gun's backup gun's backup gun.
