Uploading new content usually guarantees you at least one filesize worth of buffer from it on most trackers, also if you just perma-seed everything you download until you delete the files for whatever reason it will add up over time even if it seems very slow at any given time. Amount of torrents seeding is also important, much more likely to be seeding something if you have 100+ things going at once, and the torrents that aren't active don't really waste bandwidth or memory much anyway unless you're using a really shitty torrent client.
