When will this bullshit end

wow
really stranes my branes

But isn't it wrong?
Its fucking supposed to be a meritocracy
I spent thousands of hours in college honing my technical skills while some dumb fag was getting blackout drunk at parties
Its fucking wrong that he gets to be my boss even when i know more than him

Coz technology is something which can be learnt with time but your social skills are the one which you inherit

Uh but that's how it should be OP. Any trained monkey can learn technical skills. What's most important is your ability to communicate, coordinate and work with other people.

Are you saying it's justified because you can lie about it in a way that seems plausible?
>>
>>61758583
My boss knows a hell of a lot, seeing how he started the company I work in from scratch and maintained and wrote all the code alone for the first 5 years before they hired additional developers.
>>
>>61758132
And what is stopping you from becoming part of the people with actual technical skills and actual social skills?
I imagine these would be paid the highest, I mean at least in my field it is crucial to have both to be of any use at all.
>>
>>61758203
Unless you can build projects that take multiple amounts of employees in a time frame similar to using a whole team, then no. Jobs means working with people, if you can't work with people than you aren't as great for the job regardless of how much you know. Basically you're a pajeet of a different spectrum.
>>
>>61758630
no it's not. OP is justifiably looking for some basic Aristotelian principles (the best flute goes to the best flute player).

best friends go to the friendliest person
best jobs go to the best programmer
>>
>>61758819
this is why we have slack
problem solved
>>
>>61758447
Can knowing how to program and knowing how to suck peoples' dicks really equated in this way?
>>
>>61758860
>the reason I'm not getting a promotion is because I don't kiss ass
No, the reason you're not getting that promotion is because you're not delivering exceptional work and standing out. Some people might deliver exceptional work and still not get noticed, but these people are cucks DESU.
>>
>>61758425
>what is autism
>>
>>61758880
>standing out
Are you talking about people's dicks or their minds?
>>
>>61758819
>Basically you're a pajeet of a different spectrum.

This. OP is literally the worst kind of employee and somehow has deluded himself into thinking that he is the best. Incredible.
>>
>>61758853
You underestimate autism.
And slack won't help with everything and doesn't integrate into all businesses. I guess if you find the one job that does you're ok. But don't expect to be promoted to anything higher than lvl 3 when you're known as the autistic weirdo that doesn't get along with people.
>>
>>61758132
social skills aren't that hard to get you know, just go out with friends to eat or to go on a trip or meet new people, if you have anxiety then just go out with the closest friends you have you are comfortable with, if no friends, go out with family members, basically anyone you are really comfortable being open, and with that they can introduce you to new friends and so on, realize that people want to talk to others, there's nothing wrong with that.

if you have no family members or friends, you'll just have to tough it out and go past your fears.

You could also reward yourself, I personally refused to eat any form of yummy junk food unless I went out with friends despite me still being nervous, this exploits Neuroplasticity by associating good feelings with going out with friends and unassociating bad feelings (social anxiety - which will also degrade the longer you go out, your brain gets used to things)

in the end you'll want to go out with friends to watch movies and your overall happiness will be higher, and as a side effect you'll also be a better programmer/sysadmin becuase you don't feel like garbage all the time
>>
>>61758937
why should the best employee not simply be the most skilled employee? if he is the best programmer, why should any other criteria be used to determine his role at a company?

>>61758880
if he is the best programmer, why does it matter if he is a cuck or not? should not the best job go to the best programmer?
>>
>>61758937
the worst kind of employee and somehow has deluded himself into thinking that he is the best
Like people who work at Google?
>>
>>61758945
the point is that, in an ideal world, autistic weirdos will be promoted for autistic weirdo jobs (technical jobs) and dick suckers will be promoted for dick sucking jobs.
>>
>>61758962
>if he is the best programmer, why does it matter if he is a cuck or not? should not the best job go to the best programmer?
The point is that it doesn't matter if you can do the work of three people if you're so autistic that people don't want to talk to you.

If he is skilled and simply doesn't get noticed because he is quiet, he should quit his job instead of staying around and hoping to one day get noticed.
>>
>>61758988
realistically, yes. but why is that better than an alternate world in which the autist who can do the work of three people gets paid 3x as much?

obviously, that isn't the reality. but wouldn't it be better?

>>
>>61759002
>but why is that better than an alternate world in which the autist who can do the work of three people gets paid 3x as much?
It's not, my whole point is that this isn't the world we live in. Programmers need to learn how to stand up for themselves, by for example threaten to leave the company when they're not paid adequately

>obviously, that isn't the reality. but wouldn't it be better?
I don't think so, actually. People leaving their jobs instead to find jobs that respect their work mean that there will be a competition to get the best programmers and drive programmer salaries up.
>>
>>61759021
alternate world autists can still leave jobs for more money why not?
>>
>>61759002
Because that's literally never the case. 3x the work of some pajeet who doesnt understand anything sure. 3x the work of a competent chad, absolutely not. You're dealing with competent individuals unless you work at a shit company. Projects will also be much more diverse than what you specialize in. While you might be good at your position focusing on one thing you might not be as good as the other guy who's job it is to do exactly that.
>>
>ITT: 20 years olds realizing discovering the workforce

Of course interpersonal skills are more important than technical ones to get productive shit done, otherwise we wouldn't be cooperating.

Who would you rather put in a managing position? The autist with technical skills or the charismatic person who knows just enough of your job to manage a team?
>>
>>61759049
>Because that's literally never the case

In your view, what should an individual who is capable doing this be paid if they really did exist?

Capitalism just werks. Some autists can hack into nasa but a car insurance sales man has social skills to earn $, a security guard can earn $ by guarding a bar whereas only a few YouTubers make decent $ with their basement dwelling
>>
>>61759042
This world already exists. I don't see why you would prefer dreaming about some utopia where you just magically get handed the exact sum of money you deserve as compensation for your work, when we already live in a world where you have possibility to influence how much money you make on your own.

It's probably a cultural thing, in my country it's happened more than once that some local company make some great technology, and some big American international company notices the product and buys the company, but then makes the mistake of trying to enforce American office culture onto the bought company. So the people just quit and start working on some new piece of great technology instead.

My guess is that in the US, people are so worried about just having a job, that they will never dare to quit if they're not being treated well.

Most modern software is made by social people.
That's also why it's all too often terribly written, with badly followed standards, with managers trying to promote their pet projects and pulling in opposite directions.

Software done by autists is not successful commercially.
Like most science, it is useful for humanity as a whole, but the authors end up with nothing.
>>
>>61759083
>you have possibility to influence how much money you make on your own.

I'm aware of this, but I find sucking dicks morally repugnant, and I don't think it in any way ever could work out in the end. What am I to do then?
>>
>>61758132
ITT people who don't have tech jobs
>>
>>61759151
>I find sucking dicks morally repugnant
There is literally nothing wrong with sucking dicks.
>>
>>61759157
>ITT people who don't have tech jobs
So you admit that you are aware that people could go so far as to be unemployed because of this bullshit?

>When will this bullshit end
When people realize that SJWs have no actual coding skills (other than attempting to memorize every possible permutation), that SJW crap isn't going to work out as far as retaining actual talent goes. Companies like Google will be taken over by right-wingers, however SJWs refuse to support right-wingers under any circumstance, so thus SJWs themselves will destroy Google in the end.
>>
>>61759184
So you are admitting this is where you have gotten everything you have in life? That this is really what you are referring to as "people skills"? That with SJWs it takes the place of actual talent?
>>
>>61758880
If someone is really good at their job you don't want them promoted.
>>
>>61758203
Being social is a skill. Probably the most important one considering it is required to live and move effectively in society. In a corporation it is probability more valuable having a boss who can talk to people than a fkin sperg. I'm sorry, we have no hope.
>>
>>61758203
>Its fucking supposed to be a meritocracy
Capitalism is as far removed from meritocracy as communism.
>>
>>61759184
dick-sucking is wrong. you're basically just playing the social game and generating no value but somehow you're still plugged into capitalism and making money. think of all the women who work in startups as growth hackers who just tweet all day.

their job is just to create confusion so no one knows which products to buy and they just "go with their gut" i.e. whichever twitter/facebook promo get them the wet that day while scrolling through their feeds
>>
>>61759151
>What am I to do then?
I just fucking told you over and over again in five posts, you flaming idiot. Tell your boss that if you don't get paid more, you'll start searching for other jobs.

>>
>>61758203
Social skills isn't that easy to acquire, I would say it's as difficult to acquire as learning programming. That said, when you grow in hierarchy you need to supervise people, so it's no wonder that you have to get some social skills and a bit less technical skills, and so one.

Also meritocracy doesn't mean what you think it means
>>
>>61759216
I'm not the kind of person that makes threats to get where I want, there has to be a justification. But perhaps this is the actual reason for my troubles?
>>
>>61759433
>I'm not the kind of person that makes threats to get where I want, there has to be a justification
The justification is that you're not getting paid what you deserve.

>But perhaps this is the actual reason for my troubles?
You need to stop thinking of employers as someone who "gives" you your pay.

Your salary or wage or whatever is simply said a compensation for your time and efforts. You wouldn't be working for your boss if you weren't compensated adequately for it, right?

So if you feel unsatisfied with your compensation, you should say it out loud. Nobody benefits from unsatisfied employees. You will probably work less hard than your best if you feel unsatisfied, and your employer will not have a motivated employee that works as hard as he can.

People feel too loyal to their boss and companies. I'm not saying that you should go around and being a dick and threaten to quit every now and then, but I'm saying that you, after all, could be home drinking beer in a hammock, but you're instead at work providing your employer with your time and efforts.
>>
If you have an autism diagnosis you can try to get hired by companies looking for aspergerfags. You usually get some kind of accomodations.
>>
>>61759491
>tfw not autistic enough to be hired by such companies (my diagnosis was literally "mild aspergers")
>tfw not socially skilled enough to get promoted to management
Do I have nothing more than a life of boring mediocrity to look forward to?
>>
>>61758132
You want to work in management and be social go-getter under pretense the whole day? It's simply terrible.
>>
>>61759478
>People feel too loyal to their boss and companies. I'm not saying that you should go around and being a dick and threaten to quit every now and then, but I'm saying that you, after all, could be home drinking beer in a hammock, but you're instead at work providing your employer with your time and efforts
This

That's why I hate the "lol wagecuck" meme, because it implies that we're somehow slaving away for free. I'm well aware that I'm willingly spending my own time on working for my employer, which is also why I demand a reasonable compensation for doing that.
>>
>>61759064

there's an incongruence here. You should be saying the best programming job goes to the best programmer. There's no system that isn't a meritocracy, the only thing that differs is what constitutes merit. Capitalists say it's skill, SJWs say it's "people skill", which not always translates to skill, but can actually be the opposite if the only thing you can do right is suck dick/being a sycophant.
