What are some decent chronograps that are under 40 mm diameter and under 10 mm thick?
Both quartz and mechanical will do.
Must have a stainless steel case.

To me the Dongfeng dress watch speaks of true luxury on a budget, the lovely silver sunburst dial, the standing out red seconds hand, those exactly aligned hour markers.. Ah, just so lovely to gaze upon a well made timepiece. Of course this piece is mechanical with 19 jewels in it, to add to that the Fang Zhen marking on the bottom proves that this watch is built with quality. What a lovely piece to wear with a dress. Wear it in good health my friend.

I've inherited pic related and I had the batteries changed today. When I tested the stopwatch function, it worked fine but it doesn't reset to the 12 o clock marker and instead goes to the 9 o clock marker.

I've also got a Citizen with the exact same issue.

What can I do about it?

Bumped the disassembly of the Sicura to next week, since it's too fucking hot to do any serious work. Fucking 30° at my bench, almost 40° outdoors. It's been like this for weeks now, old and chronically ill people are already dropping dead left and right.

Wearing my SKX for the first time in a while. It's upgraded with a sapphire crystal, a 6r15c movement and a StrapCode super oyster bracelet.

I'm thinking of either getting a custom double-AR coated crystal or a domed underside AR crystal because the reflections of the hour markers on the bevelled portion of the crystal trigger my 'tism.

9/10 would recommend if you're not retarded enough to buy an overpriced denzel washington.

very long time, maybe a year or two. didn't take very good care of it, dropped it, threw it around, as made obvious by the picture. if you don't fuck around with it like i did yours wont look the same after the same amount of time.

honestly there's no shame in buying this. it's cheaper than a shitter and no one will bully you for buying a real, expensive wellington. it's still got the exact classic design which is all you really SHOULD be paying for. it's basically what >>61748040 is saying. you're paying so much for the brand just like raybans.

anyways i really really really really think you should sell your DW and get this. maybe you can increase your shitter collection with the extra cash.

Are Fossil watches objectively bad? I realize people in this thread have more refined tastes and wouldn't get one for a million reasons, but for a normie like me that just needs a timepiece that will last more than a year and isn't expensive, is Fossil an okay buy? They seem to always have sales and I live relatively close to the store.

I think most people dislike Fossil because they're generally really ugly fashion watches, are the reason why all those gaudy fashion watches from Michael Kors and the like exist, and they aren't really made all that well. There are some decent watches, but they're far and few in between and some have even discontinued.

Now that I think about it, it could also be that Fossil is the watch equivalent of New Balances and Wrangler/Lee jeans; or just simply a "dad" watch.

Nah, get that.

I have a similar watch with the same movement, depth rating, but a canvas strap. It's definitely swim-safe.

Admittedly I haven't worn it in over a year, but it it still running right next to my computer screen. It will take a sufficient charge from any light source in seconds.

Both of these anons are right. That watch likely has the external build quality of a Seiko automatic, but without the needs of an actual mechanical movement. As a solar-powered quartz it's maintenance-free.

On the other hand you might be bored insane of it after a year.

I have noticed that I have superior taste in watches than /wt/, and I don't even wear watches.
Makes sense, I am a designer and make art for a living, so my aesthetic taste is highly attuned.

All of you are just trend chasers, adopting aesthetics created by higher men (such as myself), but not understanding them, adopting them only for prestige, laying your trust on collective opinion.
And your aesthetic ineptitude is reflected in your choice of outdated watch stylings, heralding from the era when watches still held prestige, but wary and anxious of newer designs, for they do not provide you with validation and belonging.
Sheep, all of you.

I wear a plastic quartz watch confidently for I recognize it for its aesthetic beauty, and don't need an extrinsic entity to dictate my preference.
But you will scoff at me. Pfft. Pearls before pigs.

I've been lurking on wt for a while a finally decided I wanted to pull the trigger on purchasing myself a watch. It seems that there are very mixed reviews on here for Skagen watches. A lot of users have cited quality issues as a concern. However, it came with a three-year warranty so I feel pretty good about it.

I'm a graduate student, so I'm definitely not at a point where I can drop a ton of money on a watch. At ~$100, it seemed like a really good option for a first watch. I know the steel blue is a little offbeat, but I think I can pull it off. I'm a big fan of a lot of the watches I see in here and I'm already thinking about what might make an awesome second piece to the collection.

I know it's not everyone's taste, and to be honest I wasn't sure if it was mine either. But I liked how different it was compared to my other traditional watches, so I thought why not. I feel like my wrist isn't that small either, and have been told the 47mm looks fine on me. It's not a watch I wear often, but when I do, it feels special.

Would definitely like to hear some thoughts and opinions on what you guys think about this watch with the bespoke strap I had chosen to create. Photography critiques are welcomed as well!
>>
>>61752959
Beautiful watch. Beautiful strap, beautiful depth of field. Contrast stitching matches beautifully, but the strap colour is just a little too much of a reach for me. This watch is "out there" enough that you don't need a contrasting strap to draw the eye, its already very striking due to the unconventional watch design.

Following the post from a few days ago, I ordered this bad boi...pretty cool thing for that price. A few days ago, someone posted a pic of their Casio. I, along with a lot of other people, really liked and went on Amazon to order it. It arrived yesterday. I set'er up, adjusted it to my wrist circumference and am enjoying how she looks. It's a cool time piece.

I'd like to thank the Academy and OP for inspiring me to get this watch. Looking forward to going swimming with it. Next stop: SKX007.

Edit: Not sure if there are enough characters in this post. Anyway, how about The Mooch, eh? Not a surprise though. He was my favorite character on that new reality tv show. What else is going on? Right, the guy who delivered this watch had the same one except in black. Strange coincidence. He said he liked it. Alright that should be enough I think.

Uhuh, you sure sound like you have your ear to the ground. If only I could fuck all those militant feminists, because that's what we want to do.

Millennials were an undeniable shift to the authoritarian-left, this is an aesthetic preferred by such people. It's nothing more than a refutation of beauty, and people who embrace it do so because embracing ugliness is easier than striving for beauty.

Because the transition to the hard left was complete around the millenial generation. Soulless "minimalist" design came from the jewish Bauhaus movement of the 1920s, which was the first step toward leftist radicalization, which is extremely profitable and also destabilizes a society, which is a bonus to them. To keep it short, I'll only talk about design aspects.
With minimalist design, it's very cheap and easy to design, because it requires very little effort to look decent. It's inoffensive, and therefore can be sold to a wider audience. Millenials have no idea anything exists beyond minimalism because that's all they see nowadays. SevenFriday of course isn't Bauhaus, but it follows the same deconstructionist approach.

Bauhaus didn't originate that shit. Brands just try to tie into the idea of Bauhaus to sell their shit designs. Modern minimalism largely sprung up after WWII, and regardless of timeframe, was influenced by Eastern conceptions of aesthetics as much if not more than by the Bauhaus school.

Additionally, I'd argue that with regard to modern watches, divers are in line with certain teachers' interpretations of Bauhaus, since many divers have forms entirely bent towards advancing their function.

Yeah but it's a bad container, It's missing half of the sides it need to really get a good containment on things. And that handle is going to be a bitch if you're going to hold anything of weight in it.

And people have been making premade seat for apple crates forever. And and a crate 3 different dimensions and can be sat on at any of the three, while that thing can only reasonably sat on or even used as a container in 2 of its 3 positions, because even as a container in the 3rd position shit is really just sitting on the floor.

I'm just saying, if you wanted to maximize functionality/cost you would have made an apple crate. Only if you had a rule or cost-cap preventing you from making an apple crate would you make that.

>>
>>61756146
For $1000, a well-regulated 2892 would be appropriate.
>>
>>61756417
That would be nice, but a 2892 is too thicc for the profile of the Group B. Part of the design of the watch is that it's meant to be thin and lightweight like that of the Group B monsters that inspired it.
If they made one that was like $200-$300 and had a nice quartz movement in it, then I'd probably cop one.
>>
>>61756497
The 2892 is slightly thinner than the 9015 if I'm not mistaken.

>If they made one that was like $200-$300 and had a nice quartz movement in it, then I'd probably cop one.

It wouldn't be much cheaper if you stuffed some quartz movement in the case. The majority of the materials cost doesn't come from the movement.

I would think twice about that. The case isn't metal, it's just painted. I have no idea if pool chemicals would affect the paint at all.

>millennial decrying expediency and practicality
Oh, the irony.

It seems that every millennial dreams of nothing but becoming the next boomer generation, while hating on boomers for being "privileged".

Minimalism is more of a necessity than it is a preference these days, as it is obvious to anyone that the luxury and excess of the previous generations wasn't a sustainable endeavor.
Cheapness and expediency are the way to go now, because multiple bursts of the modern economic bubble that lead to catastrophic ruin has left people disillusioned with the infinite growth meme and the idea that everyone can be a capitalist consumer pro with a gas chugging v8 car, bix texan lawn and needlessly expensive toys.

We have quite literally reached the limits of our consumption, and it's quite obvious that there will never be a time when everyone is going to be a rich boomer with a home cinema like the TV taught us to believe and strive for.

Hence, minimalism. Watches, cheap, practical watches for everyone, cheap, fuel efficient cars, cheap electronics, etc etc. Many people hate it and claim it as the death of aesthetics or whatever, but I welcome it whole heartedly. It's better that everyone has a watch than a select few.

The aesthetic driving force of the new millennium is literally poverty.

There's nothing wrong with atheism, it's just that most people are monkeys and can't develop morals without religion. r/atheism is a perfect example of what happens when you let people loose.

I just looked him up to remove any doubt, yes he is jewish.
>>
I remember when the infinite growth first stopped and raised a generation of new consumers, but poor consumers.
And the market was flooded with horrible, cheap knockoffs of expensive products. And the poor people would buy them, being under the illusion that under capitalism, everyone can effort beautiful luxurious products, like the TV told them!
But it was quickly discovered that wasn't the case. Most people could not afford good things, and most manufacturers didn't have the resources to produce them. There was a decade or so where poorer consumers had to use horrible products, made worse by their attempts to be knockoffs of good products.

But then, practical, minimalist, cheap, and working products started arriving, having the same manufacturing costs as the knockoffs - a bit of plastic, really, but now actually functional, and also aesthetically pleasing in its own limits. And thank god for that.

>>61759443
Wear whatever you want.
But don't act like a spoiled, clueless brat, scoffing at necessity, mistaking it for preference.
Why can't every building in Europe look like the Sistine chapel? Because we can't afford it, dummo. So architects try to use their materials given to their strength. Plastics and glass and modern materials look futuristic and sterile, let's go with that, etc.

Imagine if architects started copying classical architecture, but not with stonecutting, but with cheap modern materials. It'd look even more awful than "modern architecture". It'd literally be noveau riche tier.
Like pic related for example. It tries to look wealthy, but it's made from cheap materials, which just highlights its cheapness even stronger.

Damn, it's like the right wing millenials missed the last couple of centuries of cultural development. We ain't in the renaissance era anymore, boyo.
>>
>>61759530

Well beyond the reason that you then immediately listed and the fact that they're nation wreckers who destroy the cornerstones of Western civilization because God is mean to fags or something. I mean you kill all of the atheists and the Green Party would cease to exist.

They also go to hell when they die but that's a more spiritual matter.

Oh and here's a watch.
>>
>>61759591
Well, first off, the time it took to build it was outrageous, and would still be outrageous today.

Also, economy scales. If back then you only needed to feed shit stained peasants tree bark soup as payment, today the workforce is much, much more expensive, because of all the "treat them like they have human rights" nonsense. Oh, and also having to pay them a lot more in proportional wealth, of course.
People have become richer. But that also means the workforce has also become more expensive.

Not to mention that building such architectural marvels often bankrupted entire kingdoms. Can you imagine germany going bankrupt spending literally all of its money trying to build an ebin 9th wonder of the world? Preposterous.

Times have changed, kiddo. Don't skip your history lessons next time, millennial faggot.
