Holy fuck I just installed a linux dual boot to see what all the talk is about. I just had to install about 10 packages to get fucking graphics card drivers. Am I missing something here? What is the appeal unless you're programming?

Autism.

it just works

>10 packages

I don't see what the problem is...? Every package manager I've used automatically installs dependencies. Besides, any distro you should be trying should have a utility for installing graphics drivers. Why didn't you use that?

It's just a random image off of image search.

No built in adware and spyware.
Fewer bugs than Windows, including Firefox being much more stable than it is on Windows in my experience.
Updates don't break the system like they do on Windows.
95% of the problems I encountered are solved by a single line of bash script found in the top Serverfault/Askubuntu answer brought to you by the first Startpage search result, unlike the deluge of 'do the needful turn on/off, reinstall driver, do clean OS install, download and run this executable' answers you get when searching for solutions to problems on Windows.
Using it helps me get better at administrating servers at work.
Warm fuzzy feeling from knowing the device you rely on for everything answers to you and not an exploitative American company and their three letter agency overlords.

Linux mint has a Driver Manager, so that should've been one-click for you.
>>
>>61741397

The system is less bloated and there are no forced automatic updates. These alone are good reasons to switch entirely if you are not gaming, since game devs don't give a shit about Linux.

This. I've never had an issue with it.

GNU/Linux is the worse mainstream OS in almost every aspect.
But!
It's free as in FREEdom. It doesn't spy on me and it doesn't want to get a complete control over me so I'd be a perfect consumer.
If you don't care about ethics there is just no good reason to use GNU/Linux: to many tradeoffs and drawbacks.

>GNU/Linux is the worse mainstream OS in almost every aspect.
I guess you can't translate it to any human language.
>>
>>61742981
Alex?
>>
>>61743317
It isn't mainstream. Or for normies. Shoo shoo.
>>
>>61743417
It's mainstream compared to any other _put the name of your Unix derivative here_
>>
>>61743317
it's the best in every way, you can set up super comfy hotkeys for everything, it does everything and anything, runs a lot of good software
the keyboard shortcuts is part of what makes it so nice to use for me
>>
>>61743507
Hardware support is far from great and It can't run most of professional software (Adobe Suite, Ms Office, CAD's, etc.) and vidia games. So it's almost useless for most types of PCs users.
>>
>>61741397
>Am I missing something here?

a decent distro
>>
>>61741397
Linux is a meme. No one actually uses it, Anon. We just like tricking people to install, so they lose their shit. Dude, Linux is from the 90s, no one uses it anymore. kek
>>
>61743635
I'd mention you, but I know all you want is attention and (You)s
>>
>>61741397
blame it on nvidia not linux. And no, lower mem usage and hackable , if you dont like tinkering, go back

Ah yes, I remember installing it. There was literally just a button to click "Install Linux Mint" after choosing your username, password, local time, etc. Literally dumbed-down mac-tier hand holding.

What exciting times we live in :^)
