Name a better hacker.
My diary desu
>>61738306
This is made up. Show sucks, normie.
>>61738306
Can he even hack things? The only characters who I remember hacking things were Elliot, Darlene, and Whiterose.
>>61738387
He can hack my boypucci.
>>61738306
David Lightman
>>61738346
Why does it suck?
>>61738387
no he can't hack shit, he uses KDE like a faggot
>>61738306
The hacker known as 4chan
>>61738387
Didn't he hack into his own company in S1? Or did he attempt to?
>>61738306
>This motherfucker FUCKS a guy IN THE ASS to plant a backdoor in some faggot's phone
Truly an alpha stud.
>>61738503
Didn't you hear? Human alpha males don't exist
>>61738306
I can't, because she's never been caught.
>>61738502
He went to work with fsociety to launch an attack on E Corp as revenge for getting fired iirc.
>>61738560
That's true but there was a scene where he's seen using the terminal at work. I can't remember what for
>>61738473
this
>>61738306
I just started watching season 2.
Its amazing.
>>61738306
i still dont really know how i feel about this show. im on S1E5 and every time i think im getting into it they do some fucking dumb shit. like brute force a facebook page or act like a ddos is some type of wmd.
>>61738631
that picture is pretty acurate
>>61738631
So, a Moto phone?

I had to save the image so I could repost it

>This is made up.
Oh really? I thought it was a documentary.
Is he /ourguy/, /g/?
>>61738643
Try imaging like it's not real, like a tv show or something.
>>61738608
>there was a scene where he's seen using the terminal at work
Was there really? I've seen all of the show except the season 2 finale, but I don't remember seeing that. The only part I remember with him using a terminal is when he was in the fsociety arcade with Elliot.
>>61738313
hello /lit/ friend
>>61738745
What if I tried imagining it wasn't a shitty show for teenagers who want to 'hack da racist system'
>>61738780
then it would most certinly be boring
>>61738306
>>/tv/
Also this show is worse than aids.
>>61738643
This show is meant for stupid people. Don't feel bad for not getting into it. The only good part is the sound track.
>>61739026
the soundtrack is one of the only things keeping me on this show. the other are this guys character and the fbi agent. everyone else is ass
>>61739026
yeah, the soundtrack is great.
>>61738306
He's in Elliot's head. He his Elliot. So is every other major character on the show other than the women. Basically all guys are in his head, other than characters like the boyfriend.
>>61739642
i was really hoping thats just what they wanted me to think
>>61738306
Literally a faggot
>>61738728
>gets hacked immediately
yeah no
If Mr. Robot was just Elliot's delusion the whole time, does that mean Elliot was just talking to himself when he talked to Mr. Robot?
>>61740328
yes
>>61739798
It was cool that they referenced the Stagefright exploit.
>>61740328
pretty much, yes
>>61740341
>>61740375
That's what I don't get though. When Elliot first visited the fsociety arcade, he was talking to Darlene about the hack and planting Colby's IP in the dat file. Then Mr. Robot showed up with a bag of Twinkies. So does that mean Elliot just showed up uninvited to the fsociety arcade and bought Twinkies before going there?
>>61740403
he's an unreliable narrator. so technically we don't know if some of the shit we see is real. he mostly showed up invited (they all know he's delusional, or at least darlene) so yeah he probably had twinkies beforehand and just imagined mr robot was the one that brought them.
Why is she such a cutie?
>>61740445
Yeah, that's what I didn't get. I know that there are scenes where he asks Mr. Robot questions, and Mr. Robot answers, but I don't know if that means he asks himself questions and then immediately answers them himself. And I know there was a scene with Tyrell and Mr. Robot in a car. Was it just Tyrell and Elliot?
>>61738502
If I remember right he had started to and then realized that Elliot's group was the way to go
>>61738503
Except the dude he fucked told everybody else in the office and there is that scene where the guys were making fun of him for it
>>61740523
if they are by themselves, then he was just imagining that conversation. and tyrell also most likely knew that elliot was 'crazy' and tried to appeal to mr robot
>>61740523
>Was it just Tyrell and Elliot?
obviously.
>>61740579
>if they are by themselves
There were some scenes where they weren't by themselves. Like Elliot was asking Mr. Robot questions when they were in the fsociety arcade with the other fsociety hackers.
>tyrell also most likely knew that elliot was 'crazy'
How would Tyrell know that? He doesn't even get that much interaction with Elliot in the first season, and he didn't even know who Elliot was until the GNOME KDE scene.
>>61740473
>>61738752
Tyrell tries to SSH in to the allsafe server that Elliot left the root kit in but he finds out it's been turned into a honey pot
>>61740770
I think I remember that scene, but I have no idea what it means in terms of what he's doing.
>>61738346
>t. someone who hasn't watched it
>>61740770
didn't Tyrell die in the big green fire?
>>61738489

>>61740548
You obviously lack any social cues; they werent making fun of him, if they knew he did it, they would have KEPT THEIR MOUTH SHUT, because the entire company knows Tyrell is a volatile man, case in point when the old dude who lets him go says he had no idea how he was gonna react.
Oh and you know, being fired from your cushy, cruisy job is certainly not what you try to do on a daily basis.
>>61738643

4chan is contrarian and edgy by nature.
>>61752558
It's not that unrealistic.
>>61752623
this, they could have made it 10x more unrealistic and gay. I think it's a bretty gud show. I like how they based it off real things like anonymous, dread pirate roberts, wikileaks etc.
>>61752661
The characters also use real commands when they're working with the terminal. I like how there was one episode where two characters are arguing whether Android or iPhone is better.
>>61738473
And actually refers to it as a "desktop environment" instead of a DE.
>>61738306
4chan
>>61742093
Did he actually hack that guy's phone? All I saw him to do was gain root access and install a system update.
>>61752558
but hacking in that show is pretty realistic anon
>>61752492
Which is amazing because if they actually watched it, they would see there are no issues with it
>>61752623
>>61752931
I didn't mean to say that the hacking wasn't realistic. I just meant that people who don't know hacking think it's cool because of how "techy" it seems.
>>61754116
they had an interview with the technical designer for the show
he said feedback was from people who know nothing about computers that the hacking "felt realistic" to them, despite not knowing a thing about hacking because it wasnt flashy and over the top. they liked it because it was real.
i can find it if youre interested

>>61754350
Sure, I'd be interested in reading it.
>they liked it because it was real
But if they have no idea what hacking is, how could they know whether or not it was "real?" For all they know, the flashy and over the top hacking could be the real thing, and Mr. Robot's hacking could be the fake thing.
>>61738631
The perspective is all wrong. There's no doubt is a /g/ phone
>>61754669
>>61754669
http://www.bbc.com/future/story/20170802-why-cant-films-and-tv-accurately-portray-hackers
They just know it "feels" real. Probably because they know what using a computer looks like when they are working; hunched over a keyboard staring at the screen, and in some way know having two people use the one keyboard is stupid (ala 2idiots 1keyboard from ncis)
>>61755293
Yeah, I can see that. I also think it is because of the episode titles. Like "eps2.1_k3rnel-pan1c.ksd" sounds much more techy than some other regular title. Not to mention that "kernel panic," which is a real term that I found out from the show, sounds "cool and dangerous" imo.
>>61755765
>which is a real term that I found out from the show
this show is the reason i got interested in cyber security. knowing the hacks were real made me watch it in the first place. funny, i came for the tech and stayed for the actual show.
>inb4 elitists shit themselves with disgust
fuck you.
>>61755794
I actually got interested in the show for the tech. I came for the tech and stayed for the tech. That's why I'm rewatching it, because I apparently didn't understand any of the story, and season 3 is premiering in October.
>>61756289
i keep rewatching s1 for the tech; the attacks were more common in the first season
Gee I dunno.
>>61756368
Yeah, they were. Season 2 was mostly just Elliot's delusions. But I really liked the DDoS attack scene in the first episode of season 1.
>>61756669
i also like how he went and bought all this off the shelf gear, set up the cantenna and did as close to an anonymous hack as i can imagine
>>61738306
In that fictional world. Elliot.

>>61740473

>>61756685
It was actually kind of cool in that scene where Elliot was buying the stuff because the show referenced the video game Watch Dogs. It would've been better if they referenced Watch Dogs 2, because the sequel is the closest you can get to Anonymous: The Video Game, but that game didn't come when that episode aired.
>>61757695
i cannot overstate how much i dislike watch dogs 2. fucking hell it was getting really cringy, really quickly.
>>61757709
>it was getting really cringy, really quickly
Was the cringe from the memes that the game referenced, or the story? I only played the game for the free roam, so I don't really know the story all that well, besides "muh hacker group takes down big evil corporation." I'm glad the PC version got cracked though.
>>61748281
this
>>61757830
the way they made hacking look like a superpower
the way some dude can be a full on master at free running, hacking traffic lights while driving, sneaking around bases, attacking people with his celtic slammer, knows how to perform an engine transplant, breaks into the most secure dc despite being on every watch list known to man; it just had no realism attached to it at all, it was the worst parts of csi smashed together.
i saw a FEW refrences that gave me hope in the begining; his payload was encoded with veil evasion...on the fly on the machine he was attacking, so that killed any legitness that offered.
its not in anyway shape or form realistic, and thats kinda what i wanted.

>its not in anyway shape or form realistic
It's not meant to be. I mean, it's just a game. If the game was anything like Mr. Robot, the protagonist would probably need to be on his computer all the time to do any kind of hacking. It wouldn't be as fun, since the game is also about stealth and shooting guns. It's funny because Ubisoft actually consulted real hackers to validate scripts. I know nothing of hacking, but I doubt anything in the game is what real hacking looks like.
