its not a huge problem for me. the problem is that anytime i boot back into windows to play some games, i have to delete the entire configuration and re-do it. takes about 5 minutes but it does get annoying.
ive looked all around for solutions and apparently this is a common problem, at least on ubuntu.

anyway, the original question: its not just me right? does the sound quality seem better to you?

I'm using Windows 7 and Ubuntu right now. No, I use the integrated audio of my PC.

Pulse audio always seems like it can go louder than windows can maybe that's the "quality" you're experiencing?

opposite for me, is there a way to make linux sound better?

as dumb as it sounds, pulseaudio was the primary reason I left windows

Maybe it's the sample rate/bit depth? It's set to a paltry 16bit/44100hz by default on wangblows

I've never had any sound issues on xubuntu. Probably has more to do with support for your motherboard.

Pulseaudio is a meme, you should only use alsa
