IPv6 has severe security and leaking issues as well

Fuck this, I hope it never becomes standard

No, it doesn't. Stop propagating this meme.

>inb4 NAT hides who you are
No, it doesn't. Not really.

Read this: https://blog.webernetz.net/2013/05/21/why-nat-has-nothing-to-do-with-security/

>inb4 router solicitation attacks
Nobody uses stateless autoconf anyway
>>
>>61735554
this will make exploiting shitty routers easier because usually even the router gets its own publuc ipv6 address that can be used to exploit it. this problem did not exist when the router was behind nat and did not listen on public ips.

Shit responses.
> just buy into the money grubbing monopolist market to stove a problem in search of a solution
People in the past have used IPs directly to connect with each other. This is a lot less convenient with IPv6. They fact the you can work and this with various layers of abstraction or transliteration doesn't change that.
>>
>>61735639
>even the router gets its own publuc ipv6 address
What are you talking about, routers always have their own IP address?

>this problem did not exist when the router was behind nat and did not listen on public ips.
Your router at home is the same device as your NAT device, it has a public IPv4 address.

I can prove it, just go here and you'll see what your public IP is: http://www.whatsmyip.org/

If you mean routers on your LAN, then you want a firewall, not NAT. Read the link in >>61735636

in the past before that there were no networks and people had to deliver information hand-to-hand. What's your point? certainly not that the past is better, is it?
>>
honestly the main reason for no IPv6 adaption is because nobody can remember their v6 addresses.

>>
Thank god for ipv6, nat can't die soon enough
>>
>>61735648
Yeah, cause always when I tell someone my servers' adresses I do it in person, rather than just sending them a message with a direct link.
>>
>>61735676
many routers have very buggy ipv6 implementation and things like firewalls do not work properly. those cheap $20 routers still come with outdated software like linux 2.6 that has been unsupported for years..
>>
>>61735735
>Plus if it's a home server why the fuck would I want a DNS
If it's a home server, why the fuck would you not just set up a reverse SSH tunnel to some cloud provider, you fucking pleb?
>>
>>61735744
The fact that router manufactures were doing shitty job on IPv6 because back then nobody was using it isn't exactly IPv6 fault.
>>
>>61735768
>>61735744
Switching to IPv6 would solve this problem. If people started experiencing bad connections, they would leave their ISPs and go to a competitor instead. This would incentivise ISPs to give recommendations regarding routers and incentivise router manufactures to make proper implementations.
>>
>>61735744
Then don't buy cheap 20$ routers. Problem solved
>>
Can't they make a "Limited IPv6" for home computers and mobile devices?

If you don't care about your IP being huge just use the regular IPv6 adress.

Now for regular uses just limit to CountryCode.0.0.0.999.999.999.999 or something like that.
>>
>>61735856
IPv6 already has a short-form.
>>
>>61735856
Okay.

Let's have a serious discussion for a second.

Do you know how an IP address is constructed? Why it's the way it is? Do you know how big an address is supposed to be?

>>61735943
Uhm, because hexadecimal is extremely well suited to represent octets?
>>

Wtf r u talking about, answer the question and don't change to an entirely unrelated subject, I'm tired of smartasses like yourself
>>
>>61735943
Because it's shorter writing them in hexadecimal notation.

Also, IPv6 did change more than just the available addressing space. There are various changes that are almost necessary to scale up, and other changes that just were desired.
>>
>>61735554
who cares, ISP wont implement this shit because of muu NAT and probably will skip it for the ipv12 or so

Please tell me you guys don't browse the web by IP addresses. DNS exists for a fucking reason

DNS exists on your router, if it doesn't it's a shit router, build your own DNS server
Hell most systems are smart enough to record computers hostnames when they broadcast allowing you to connect just by typing in their hostname if anything.

Yes and IPv4 NAT transversal prevented that, IPv6 is bringing that back

>This is a lot less convenient with IPv6
What? Did you even read what you were saying. Do you not know anything about networking?

> They fact the you can work and this with various layers of abstraction or transliteration doesn't change that.

It's getting rid of layers of abstraction

>transliteration
Do you even know what that word means?
>>

Derp derp I can't buy a host name or use a service that gives me one for free.

in reality, it'll be harder.
have you tried scanning ipv6's /0?
ipv4's /0 is ezpz.
>>
>>61735554
The only mistake is that the world still isn't using it.
