Safari is cucked by Chrome.

It's pretty good. I use it on my laptop because of how good the battery life with my Memebook is with it. I'm moving away from it on my Hackintosh though as the new Firefox both tests and feels a lot faster.

Also, no webM sucks. Not the end of the world though, just drag them into mpv on my dock and it works fine.

i often share screencasts up to as long as 10 min, in its original h264 form a 10 min screencast of just a small area can be as large as 600 MB, after i compress it with VP9 it's like 10MB

for our agency's new edgy postmodern websight i did some somewhat heavy realtime video image processing using a couple of canvas elements and web workers + had a an overlapping animated scrolling element in page + a javascript thing that writes text letter by letter. iphone safari couldn't properly redraw the page on scroll while pajeetware android chrome did just fine so i had to tone down everything specially for idevices with user agent sniffing. is safari as shit on a mac too?

that's not the issue, the issue is that you are obviously not taking proper advantage of the many compression options available to you with h.264

essentially you said, hey guys i have an original uncompressed (or lightly compressed) screencast and when i compress it with an encoder which knows what it's doing it's smaller

recompress with h.264 and appropriate settings and you can get it as small as vp8 with equal or better quality, it's an actual professional codec designed by industry professionals unlike vp8

Using it, because i like the look and feel and comfyness with the good integration into the system.

However it lacks so many features its a fucking pain. Every time i want to use FB videochat i have to fire up chrome because fucking safari wont support it. Everytime I want to watch netflix on my beamer I need to use chrome because safari won support it. Everytime I want to watch a series from a streaming site i need to use chrome because there is no decent adblocker for safari, and it either blocks nothing or blocks the video itself. Same with webm.
However PW management and general usability asid from these things is great.

I still use macOS but Chrome it is for me. Safari is faster but it doesn't just have issues with .webm (which honestly I don't mind much, I can still watch them on a new tab, just not embedded

The problem is that I'm in a small community of streamers and I want to watch said streams, and they use obscure shit that doesn't usually work that well with Safari. Among other issues.

Because your resolution isn't high enough. You either have to change the hover maths in 4chan X
To do that you replace

maxWidth = Math.max(left, doc.clientWidth - right);

with

maxWidth = Math.max(left, doc.clientWidth * .88 - right);

Or you just turn down the thumbnail sizes in the custom CSS on the theme.
