You're right though it's not going to be a serious problem/trend until Samsung drops it. I guess at least budget phones still have it, along with micro-SD support, removable batteries, and their cameras are actually decent theses days so maybe buying a new budget phone each year after a new version of Android drops could become a thing for me.
