Bout to build a Ryzen rig OP.

1800x and a 1050 ti 4 GB or 1700x with a 1060 ti 3 GB?.

I don't game much.
>>
reddit baby's first PC, huh? Pathetic
>>
>>61730662
1700X/1060 3 GB.
>>
>>61730732

Shit mane, but I don't game much?. I will always feel like I could have used the 1800x to it's potential while my GPU just sites there gathering dust?.
>>
>>61730769
1800X is probably the worst performance per dollar Ryzen CPU. It is really barely any faster than a 1700X. Like 5%. On the other hand a 1060 3GB would BTFO a 1050 ti.
>>
>>61730769
There is almost no silicon lottery with ryzen. Chances are, if you overclock a 1700x it's going to be almost identical to an 1800x.

I do got another question about Ryzen. https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/PRIME-X370-PRO/ is the board I want to get.

Why does it have a Intel Lan thing on it?. Aren't they competing companies? Pic related.
>>
>>61730813
You can't escape Intel LAN chipset. The motherboard manufacturers decide what goes on the motherboard itself.
>>
>>61730787
>>61730794

Allright allright. 1700x it is again then. I originally wanted an 1700x then switched my mind to a 1800x, now I'm back at 1700x realizing my original instinct was correct.

What about ram. I hear the boards don't support faster than 2400 yet. I can get a 16 GB set for $99 and 3000 is an extra $50 at LEAST.
>>
>>61730839
Since AGESA 1.0.0.6 RAM compatibility has improved a lot. You don't really need any faster than 3000 or 3200 though.
>>
>>61730813
AMD provides the chipset and socket but the motherboard manufacturers can add on whatever additional chips they want.

Actually they just released a full-house heater for slightly more than $1,000, wait until winter for their stock price to hit an all-time high
>>
>>61730541
I went from an i5 to a 1700. It feels so good being able to do whatever the fuck I want and not slowed down. I was copying files, encrypting a hard drive, streaming netflix, and playing CSGO at the same time. Zero lag.
>>
>>61731274
Nice MEGA-TASKING.
>>
>>61731274

Thats how i (still) am with my 8350. Hope I'm not dissappointed with 1700x.
>>
>>61731005
That's still only like 6500$. Should have bought $10 calls like I did. Those made me north of $50k.
>>
>>61730881
They aren't even old, they are cherry picked to favor high single threaded performance. Why do you think every one is run at 1080p? Does and enthusiast willing to buy a $1000 chip game at 1080? I doubt it.
>>
>>61731445
The guy who posts that all over the place never posts the actual video either, lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rnf5QzoLjG4

INTEL WAS UTTERLY AND COMPLETELY BTFO
>Dey have better technology guise, dey jus waiting for competition *releases i9 housefire*
>>
Both are dead, if 2011 Intel chip is still sufficient in the year of 2017.
>>
>>61730541
Only nice thing about intel is GPU passthrough is simple with iGPU on the CPU. But thats minor, they wont be dead though unless AMD passes them on single thread performance or gets very close
>>
Intel doesn't need to do anything else than price the new products correctly and change the fabrication back to use soldered heatspreaders, on both 115* and 201** sockets and this they can do with only at few billion dollar loss, because they still have their own fabrication.
>>
>>61731561
Why soldered heatspreaders? And why did they stop doing it
>>
>>61731561
Lol they are too Jewish to do that
>>
>>61731573
Save money
>>
>>61731468

>cherry picked to favor high single threaded performance

That's not called cherrypicking that's called taking the average/median game.

The ones that favor more coars over singelthreaded speed are the outliers

>>61731518
>>61731622
WAIT FOR SECRET SAUCE GUISE
>>
>>61731573
To 1) increase profit (indium soldering process is at least ten times more expensive than using TIM) and 2) to make the products die (or rather lose performance, because of the degration of the TIM) faster.
Same goes for the thinner waffer; as we can see, there is no problem with thick pcb on 14nm finfet.
>>
>>61731561
>price correctly
Muh margins.
>soldered IHS
Muh margins and muh segmentation.
>>
>>61731633
And soldered heatspreader, because the it has better heat transfer properties than TIM between the die and heatspreader and thus lower temperatures: the insane temps to which the new chips climb right away are 100% because of poor heat transfer, no matter what kind of monster of a heatsink you use, it's largely wasted.
>>
>>61731633
Indium soldering reduces heat (improves disspation rather) and maximizes possible clock too no?
>>
>>61731670
I wonder if cooling the backside on the MOBO opposite of the CPU has been tested.

But I imagine those test benches get dusty and shit

Can't expect anything to make sense on a game engine made in 2005. Fact that it's even included in this idiot's "lol ryzen sucks" benchmark collection is a fucking joke.
>>

you mean 96? Ignoring all the improvements done to source engine on CSGO build, you can as well go as far as id tech 2.
