>>
>>61725829
Power and heat would be issues.

Also botnet.
>>
>>61725829

I reckon we'll see ARM cpus in literal laptops much sooner.

Also, why?
>>
I don't know, why not put a V8 engine on a bicycle?
>>
>>61725861
They are already in laptops, with googles custom operating system.
>>
>>61725884
because V8 is proprietary.
>>
>>61725829
90 degrees celsius right in your hands. genius.
>>
more like why the fuck can i not link my phone to a monitor yet and use it as a pc
>>
>>61725915
>90 degrees celcius right on your lap
Even if that is the case, skin of your palms is more resistant to heat than your thighs
>>
No point because there's no support for X86_64 phones. It would just suck.

Instead, why not have two Snapdragon 835's? You wouldn't be able to do anything with them but it's a more realistic option.
>>
>>61725884
Why would a bicycle need a Javascript engine
>>
>>61725961
You work on your laptop without pants?
>>
>>61725981
Yeah. You don't?
>>
>>61725906
Lol try again, they had those in Ford, Dodge, etc
>>
>>61725974
Shut up and install it goy
>>
>>61725896

True but I was thinking more about a laptop with an OS of your choice where you don't even realize it's ARM-based unless you look up the specs.
>>
Good idea. Why not throw in one or maybe even two GPUs for mining cryptocurrencies?

Why do you think retard?
>>
>>61725896
>googles custom operating system
you can call it chromeOS theres nothing more custom about it than windows or macOS
>>
>>61725853
But smartphones are the ultimate botnet
>>
>>61726184
Now that would be sweet!
>>
>>61725829
Why not put a jet engine on a skateboard?
>>
>>61726068
id be more interested in a phone with a 2in1 tablet class cpu, like intel atom (but actually good)
>>
>>61726479
Yes why not? It would be cool and you know it

They should just put a low power x86_64 cpu in phones, so you can run windows 7 and desktop linux. I don't understand why this is so hard for everyone.

ASUS did that back when Intel was handing out Atoms for free*.
You could switch to a custom kernel that allowed you to use Windows 7 in a VM.

OP, just wait a couple more years.

ARM is catching up fast in terms of raw performance. It will be on the modern Pentium levels in the next couple years. An ARM will match a G3560 easily.

>>

wtf get a PC then retard
>>
>>61725829
Power draw and heat. Mobile chips are usually under 10w whereas laptop chips can be upwards of 45w.
>>
>>61726422
That's the thing, having the standard smartphone botnet and Intel(tm) Botnet Engine would increase the combined rotational velocidensity to insane amounts.
>>
>>61726479
Jet engines function best at high speeds unattainable by a skateboard.
>>
>>61725935
You already can
>>
Why? To run clicker game 3fps faster?
It's not like you're rendering movies on your phone
>>
>>61725829
well you hardly have power for a day anyways...

I'm making my self a PI phone today, just hope they got the gsm module at the store. But you could go the other way and get some tiny motherboard and a rucksack sized battery to make your self an i7 phone
>>
>>61725829
Who would buy a phone with 30 min of battery life?
>>
>>61726184
this

OP the main reason x86 chips aren't used on phones is because how cheap snapdragon chips are. You can get a snapdragon 820 for like $20.
>>
2 main reasons

1.) it's physically difficult if not impossible because it gives off more heat than a mobile processor and requires ventillation whereas phone CPUs are designed to dissipate heat with minimal ventilation

2.) it's not practical or cost effective. What the hell is the average person with a phone going to do on the phone that would be able to use the i7 to it's full potential? Nothing. Mobile "gaymin" doesn't require as much power as a PC game, and so they use mobile processors because they are cheaper and do everything a phone needs.
>>
>>61730651
pretty much this.

why would you want to
>>
>>61725829
Because it'll burn through your battery in like 5 minutes, even while throttling like mad?
>>
>>61725829
2hr battery life

>>61727712
Cuz I don't want android/ios/windows phone, I just want to run normal software and not "apps", compatibility with everything I do on my pc, be able to use usb peripherals like I normally do, etc... I'll not get a smartphone before they offer some experience like that.

I dont use cellphones because I dont like being tracked.

around 4 years ago when the snowden shit leaked, I gave up cell phones. Completely.

True story.

some say I wear a metaphorical 'tin foil hat', and that may be somewhat true.

But, without a doubt, if THAT phone were available on the open market I would own one. I would own two, even.

A Gentoo/Arch swtich??? I literally have a boner.

8track player, floppy reader, and cd burner???

A GUITAR JACK??

look under the RCA jacks, its not labeled but there they are.. TWO MUFUGGIN BALANCED XLR JACKS!!

Is that a GODDAM ETHERNET PORT??

AC power OR magsafe???

USB, USB B, USB micro, USB type B micro!?

The only features on here i would NOT care for is the fucking viewmaster slot.

Somebody crowdfund this shit NOW it is a fucking GOLDMINE

Besides it being a nuclear reactor in your pocket, x86_64 phones have shit app support because the Pajeets who write Android apps deliberately make their APKs ARM-compatible only, like Snapchat does.
