Isn't the swipe functionality part of a closed source library? I haven't figured out how to build swipe into LineageOS yet. All I see is that the keyboard looks for jni_latinime or jni_latinimegoogle, both of which aren't present on LineageOS.

Swiping on Windows Phone 8/8.1 was very good, but they've somehow made it worse in 10. I've spent so much time going back to correct words that any time gains I've made have probably been lost.

I don't think you are right about this.
I have used touch screen phones 6 or 7 years now and I am barely at half the typing speed I had when we had good phones.
I make a lot of mistakes, retype a lot and spend more time on writing than I ever did.
Touch is a compromise interface, I like we got new challenges for programmers, but I don't know how many years until we find a way to make stuff work again.

my first phone was the iphone 3g. I've been killing the game ever since then. Fastest typer in the east. That being said, swipe is just really easy on the fingers and feels a lot faster but it comes out to just about even because my tap typing is off the chain
