>Make first contribution to an open source project on github

does it get better?
>>61719970
never
don't even bother with helping open source projects, get a job then you'll get paid to deal with fragile egos
>>61719970
FOSS is doing downhill fast. Trannys and faggots are destroying projects with meaningless shit like bitching about gendered pronouns in documentation and the use of words such as master/slave.
Honestly though OP, try to find decent projects to contribute to or start your own.
Check previous PRs before submiting a new one

Depends what you mean by "shit on"
If by "shit on" you mean constructive but harsh criticism, then try to suck it up and realize maybe you need to learn a bit more. The entry standard for FOSS projects is pretty damn high, and there is no "training" to get you started.
If the criticism is just harsh, but not constructive, then just try to contribute to another project. Usually these kinds of projects are just shitfests and what you did wrong is probably not your fault.

This. Ignore the other retards.
>>61719970
let me guess:
either your code was shit, or you didn't read the fucking coding guidelines ?
>>61720065
Dude, that happened a couple times. It's not exactly epidemic.
>>61719970
>does it get better?
Yeah the whole point of contributing to foss, other than helping building the software that you love is to help you grow as developer.
They may be overly harsh but ultimately their criticism should help you learn and grow.

This.

Midsized projects are best. Large stuff is very corporate. Small stuff is all ego. You want to contribute to something that even if mostly written by one guy still has a process in place for accepting other people's code and a history of it.

How so? I wanna see at least an anonymized screenshot of the comment.
>>61719970
Find a better project. Gnu projects are really good.

There is none, OP is frogposting.

And yes, this actually happened.

I was so taken aback, I never ended up emailing them back.
