Firefox is officially dead for me. I never really cared about the upcoming WebExtensions until today when I upgraded to Firefox 57 (nightly) and it broke 4chan X because it seems Greasemonkey can no longer change the appearance of websites so the CSS isn't applied which makes everything looks like fucking shit. Does it work on Chromium or am I just gonna have to switch to ESR and stay on it forever?
stable is still on 54 though, 57 is still a while away, just don't upgrade to 57 until addons are either fixed or there are alternatives out
thank you for your blogpost

Mozilla has always been held back by autists like you. One less autist the better.
>>61713523
there are somewhat similar tabs in 54 too by default now
did they make the new back button flat? it looked more comfy initially
>>61713422
Use Tampermonkey.

Incompatibility with old software is called new features now?
>>61713422
Chances are some of the add-ons you use will be backported before v57 becomes the stable release. Let's wait and pray.
Otherwise, you might switch to a fork (Waterfox, Pale Moon).
>>61713459
Oh right, I completely forgot that this was a real annoyance with FF, never experienced any extensions breaking, only because Chrome updated. Fuck you Mozilla.
Just updated to 57 and here's what I've noticed so far:
Ublock Origin webextension hybrid works. (full webextension is slated for release ~aug 22nd)
Umatrix webextension hybrid works (I am experiencing a bug where I can't scroll down the grid though)
Decentraleyes works
Smart Https has a webexension version which works
Imagus works
Private tab works
Greasemonkey works (some of the scripts)
All my scripts except oneechan are functioning
I think they haven't completely disabled XUL extensions, because I only have 3 webextensions and the rest are still working fine.
>>61713523
have you tried oneechan with tampermonkey?
It isn't working with greasemonkey even though 4chanx is
>>61716008
>Ublock Origin webextension
How do I get this?
>>61716137
https://github.com/gorhill/uBlock/releases
Grab the webext.xpi
Alternatively, you can download it directly from the AMO. You just need to scroll down to the dev channel and download it from there.

Nice blogpost, faggot.

Is it dead too? There isn't even an issue tracker so I can't tell if there are any plans to port it to webextension
>>61717019
you don't even know what that means seeing as you are applying it incorrectly
>>61717019
>>61717301
It is. Among many other examples, display: none; is very useful when injected into content pages and has not a fucking thing to do with waifus.
Stay quiet, child. Experienced developer adults are talking here.
>>61717351
>Among many other examples, display: none; is very useful when injected into content pages and has not a fucking thing to do with waifus.
Then you should have mentioned it, your choice of words is better suited for a complaint about aesthetics than functionality, maybe if you listed those many other examples people will take you more seriously instead of assuming you are a frustrated manchild, which is still a possibility.
>It is.
Your are not making an argument, you are not being given a counterargument. You are making a complaint and I'm minimizing it based on assumptions about the nature thereof. Learn to use formal logic properly "experienced adult developer".

>>61713469
4chan is a shit website to use without 4chan X
>>61717545
so will it just not work anymore?
>>61717557
It's a userscript. It'll continue to work as long as there is a userscript manager available. Right now Violentmonkey is available as a WebExtension, not sure about the future of Greasemonkey.
>>61717521
>Then you should have mentioned it
Your choices are: Know what the fuck you're talking about or lurk more. Content, not form. You want debate club, go back to /pol/ and rot there.
>>61717576
4chanX works with greasemonkey though,
>>61713422
>it seems Greasemonkey can no longer change the appearance of websites
That's not how greasemonkey works. Nothing changed in regards to what addons can or cannot do. It works fine for me.
You fucked something up.
>>61717580
I'm not a mind reader to know what's troubling you in particular. If you only expect for people who are facing similar problems to reply to your thread then you are looking for a circlejerk.
>>61715631
Is greasemonkey even getting a web extension port?
>>61717587
Yes, just not sure if Greasemonkey will be ported to WebExtension or not.
>>61713523
Don't worry, they've dropped nearly all of their userbase now so they can't be held back any longer.

>>61717761

>>61713523
The back button wasn't flat in the mockups was it?
>>61717861
But I don't know how to do that
The really sad thing about Firefox is that I'm still going to use it no matter how badly the devs will fuck it up. Because it's still going to be better than anything else. At least I'm using ESR and don't have to deal with configuration and compatibility issues more than once per year.
>>61713422
Move to WaterFox. The Dev isn't a cunt like Mozilla and it's much better than FireFox. He's looking to take it a different direction too with legacy support.

>>61713422
What an I supposed to use now, why are all browsers so shit?
>>61717761
what font is that?
I actually just uninstalled it and then I immediately see this thread on the front page funnily enough.
The minor annoyances just kept piling up. Webms wouldn't load all the way if I was linked directly to them, decryption keys for mega wouldn't ever work, and it generally just ran like a big, slow piece of shit.
I've loved using it for a long time and I'll miss how powerful the extensions were, but after it shitting the bed constantly and them castrating the amount you can customize the UI (without a third-party add-on bringing it back), just fuck it.
>>61719363
Quit bitching and install Waterfox or Palememe. Both are great. I'm using Waterfox and it's working fantastic with all my customizations and very fast.
>>61717628
>Is greasemonkey even getting a web extension port?
They're working on it
>>61720473

I'll try this. Thank you, my friend.
I'm still on firefox 48. What version can I safely update to without fucking up my addons?
>>61720503
Sounded like the dev was butthurt about it and quit.
Just switch to Pale Moon like every other reasonable person.
