This is a reminder that DiPolarDisorder is a shitposting troll who intentionally spreads factually incorrect misinformation such as "hrtf graphs have an inverse relationship with how a headphone should measure," refuses to back up his claims with credible evidence because he cannot and tells anyone who proves him wrong they "can't read." His HRTF claim has been thoroughly debunked by:

>I gushed in my HE400S review, in some ways I preferred it over the HD 600. Comparing the HE4XX to the HD 600 again today I've got to say I still think it's better in some ways. The HD 600 is smoother and more liquid sounding, but it's got that veil, and the long hump in the bass/lower-mids response does give it a thick coloration compared to the HE4XX. Treble is a bit more strident in the HE4XX, and the presence area is a little more withdrawn, but bass extension and midrange neutrality are better than the HD 600. Bottom line: both are very good cans. But that price difference! People should be yelling, "Take my money!"

Depends on intended use. The lack of earhook makes them unsuitable for active use (the reason I own the heir audio 4ais) and they absolutely need aftermarket eartips, but they sound crystal clear and the bass bump helps with certain genres.

Fulla 2 will probably be loud enough for your liking. My general recommendation to people buying an HD600 is to get a Fulla 2 and see if it's loud enough to their liking. If it's not, get a Magni 2 and use the Fulla 2 as just a DAC.
>>
>>61713065
>Yes.
Wrong, onboard audio is enough.
>>
>>61713094
Most onboard audio will not be enough to provide HD600 adequate volume with sources mastered at a very low level. Loud enough with modern brickwall compressed music =/= loud enough.
>>
>>61713125
>modern brickwall compressed music
Not the Anon you are talking too, but i'm just going to add that more and more artists and engineers these days are preffering less compressing in the master in favor of more dynamic albums, so yeah, being able to properly drive your headphone should be important.

The reviewer is probably delusional. The Fulla does not color the sound, poor guy probably believed some hype about a $2k amp and now has to justify the purchase somehow. At this price point all the DACs/amps (solid state) sound the same, with the only technical differences being completely inaudible. HD600 bass response is virtually identical to DT880's when both are measured with a good seal. Pic related. HD600 is essentially DT880 with far more accurate upper midrange and treble in terms of frequency response.
Soundstage is highly subjective and soundstage preferences vary widely. Some prefer narrow soundstages, some prefer wide soundstages. The HD600's narrow soundstage is not necessarily a drawback. Its instrument separation is excellent.

Tyll's subjective opinions seem very inconsistent to me. He constantly espouses the virtues of the Harman target and praises headphones that sound close to the Harman target, yet he recently calls HD600 "veiled" when they are literally brighter than the Harman target, never mind the fact that four years ago he said the HD600 were not "veiled." He generally says he finds the bass too light on headphones with a flat bass response and says he'd prefer a more Harman target like bass response, yet doesn't complain about HE4XX's flat bass response as being light. He generally complains about peaky treble response yet doesn't complain about HE4XX's peaky treble which his own measurement confirms. Very inconsistent. I don't get it.

Is this bad? I don't even know what it means.
I just know I really like these headphones and am tempted to spend $400 on them and their tiny little speakers.

I've had similar issues in the past ordering pads and cables, it might just be shillheiser Australia

A good one?
Why the response just drop like a rock past 15khz?

Looks like an okay, but bass heavy headphone with solid treble up until 8 kHz, but if you want to spend $400 you should probably give them a listen first.

Sound signatures are opinion. What is your preferred flavor of sound signature? Bass emphasis, treble emphasis, etc
>>
>>61716664
I would buy them based on that graph, most 'neutral' headphones sound like nobass to me
>>
>>61716664
Lots of bass. That being said if you like them, don't hesitate to buy them.
>>
>>61716716
Nigga, sound signature is subjective

I'd love to but I imagine the closest place to do that is NYC which is like 2 hours from me and I don't have a car.
Only place here that sells headphones here is walmart

I'm looking for something fun, with a decent level of bass
>Past headphones
M50

I'll be dropping some serious dosh on the HD600 or HD650s later this year, so I'm looking for a closed back headphone I can use to and from work. I'm gonna get something neutral when I go open back, so for these closed back ones I'm looking for something more 'fun' i.e. a bit more bass. I tried the Custom Pro Ones in store and liked to sound, but I didn't even realise there was adjustable bass so I'm not sure what setting the bass ports were on. They were a bit chunky, and I've heard the noise isolation isn't the best. Any suggestions would be much appreciated.

Tastefully bassy (no midrange mud), light on the treble above 8K. I have them and they're altogether pleasant headphones, and don't need much EQ to sound perfect. Best closed headphones until the Aeons in my opinion.

Buy them from amazon and say they never came. You'll get your money back.

Do you guys think it's right to make a headphone purchase based on the genre of music you listen to? Or is sound signature pref usually not related?

All genres of music will sound best with a balanced sound signature like that of an HD600 or ER-4SR. Anything else is for plebeians.

Be glad you can't afford to buy anything because that's some seriously shit taste
>>
>>61717357
Do you own the ER-4SR? Are they uncomfortable? They look rather thin so it doesn't seem like they'd be too bad to keep in all day.
I just hate the way the hd600 looks, it's so ugly.

Etymotic comfort is highly dependent on ear canal size and shape. Results will vary greatly from user to user.

idk why they didn't even try to make it look decent. Even it's exact same design but in plain black plastic instead of that weird grandmother's couch blue pattern would be way better. Also those connectors for the cable look flimsy as hell. I just wont spend that much money on something I dislike

so assdrop are selling HIFIMAN HE4XX for $169.99, is it a decent buy at that price?
>>
>>61717446
If you can get past its build quality, then they're pretty decent
>>
>>61717446
If you don't like the way the $150 beyer and senns sound then yeah probably. I keep hearing concerns about build quality but even monoprice's new headphones are selling well and it's fucking monoprice for christs sake.
I would just say baby them and enjoy

Yeah, 400i drivers in excess 400 enclosures hfm probably had laying around. So at a minimum a ~$40 discount and they throw in $35 pads as well. As tyll said 'shut up and take my money'

i'm not hearing good things about its bass though

what's the point of planar headphones with no bass? I am also on the fence. The M1060 has wooden accents (sounds dumb) and overall looks silly, so I'm not sure about that based on looks alone
