The original Titan was bretty good at compute and was eating Quadro sales so Nvidia gimped every Titan after that. So the Titan became pointless, it was basically an x80Ti before the x80Ti was out so early adopters could have bragging rights, there was no real point to the GPU at all. AMD released Vega FE which was the first AMD card to compete with the Titan, so Nvidia responded by ungimping the Titan's compute power. It's really a pissing match either way as I doubt the market for either the Titan Xp or the Vega FE is really that large, but it's more symbolic than anything.

Quadros are overpriced a little but you're paying for certified drivers. Quadros and FirePros are used for serious simulations where if you fuck up people can die. You're paying for the guarantee that your drivers won't run into a bug that messes up your work calculations. Almost anything you can do on a Quadro can be done on a Titan, and almost anything you can do on a FirePro you can do on a Fury X or Vega FE. However if something goes wrong it's all on you, you can't blame Nvidia or AMD.

Tbh when the i7's first came out i thought AMD was definitely done for. Still i always went for amd. Had a 5000+, then a 6000+ at 3.0ghz i believe and then i got a x2 250 3.8ghz oc, and now i have an fx6300.

I might buy the a ryzen next year, the upgrade costs are still a bit high (new am4 mobo, ddr4 ram etc is pretty costy)
