I'm taking a university course in computer network engineering, after my placement year i'll get a CCNA and Comptia network+. They're fairly cheap and a lot of help when starting off your career.

Not true. At least not in yurop.

Nobody cares what ass-backwards europoors still do

Europe is not a single country. At least here in Germany I see no reason to certify myself - my 'cert' is my apprenticeship and my experience.
Certs are required though when you're working for a VAR that needs a minimum amount of cert holders to get the discount with the respective vendor.

CISSP if you are a burger.

No-one on this board would have the attention span needed for certs

What did you say?
>ccna
just
I have first part of ccna and i worked 2 yr in networking, including config.
And it's gone , now even cisco have meme switches with gui and cloud (look for free jew as in jewish cloud merakai). And when i was working we had mostly dumb switches with only vlans and doing all logic, routing, bind9, security. And we even pushed clients away from costly jewish cisco licensing to normal free as in freedom linux and software with 10 times cheaper our support. Pfsense or other are great for that, i mean you can push 10gb on shitty used xeon.

is this real ?

Seems accurate to me. Certs past the entry level ones still hold value, esp. if coupled with experience.
If someone 18-23 has a cert, they can skip college easily and get a job. People switching domains benefit from certs too.

Not to mention that depending on where you live, certs will take you far. I've seen IT companies in my state(Bible Belt) desperate to hire people asking for HS diploma/ged as minimum qualification.
These are 16-20/hr jobs which doesn't seem a lot but can be comfy if you live in a cheap state. Not to mention that you'll get your exp.

Whatever you need to tell yourself honey.

Rule of thumb is you get worthwhile certs you start getting job offers all throughout yurop. In my area of expertise that would be CISA / ISO 27K related. Won't guarantee you landing a job wherever you want, but it sure does add value to your CV.
