Not true. Nvidias are more prone to desoldering.
This thread has only served to make me depressed.
I am reminded of just how much fun we all used to be able to have here with each other.
Prolly the furthest fall from grace of any board, /g/ used to actually be decent believe it or not.
I just refreshed the front page now though, and it's nothing but hate and shilling and /pol/ and normalfag mayms.
>>61655837

/g/'s shit because all the real weebs were chased off
now you just have a small handful of ironic shitposting weebs
/g/ was best when the vast majority of people here were also on /a/
>>61655693
I think they would appreciate it
>>61655915
And this, my friends, is the last of the /g/ related pictures in close vicinity of each other. Might do some more digging tomorrow, but it's 5am.
>>61655975

>>61656031
>the rest of 4chan used to be good
>now it isn't
The real reason is more and more newfags kept piling in over the years and instilling their ironic shitpost culture all over the place and driving the people with any sense of humour or brains out. brains is also relative in this case.
>>61655975
No, just no.
The anime didn't contribute to the quality of /g/ at all. Anime never contributed to the quality of any board other than /a/ itself.
Anime has no place on a technology board. It being posted before doesn't validate it's existence.
>>61655509
Use legacy captcha.
>>61656056
/a/ has in fact been remarkably resilient in the face of the /pol/ and normalfag waves.
Weebs know how to have a good time man.
/g/"s fall really happened with buttcoin though.
The bubble brought in a ton of these evil normalfag and /b/tard business men who didn't care about anything but making money.
They were given a containment board (/biz/), but most of them came to see this as their home for some reason and never left.

>Audiophile components such as Rel-Caps and Cardas wiring are used where applicable, and AOpen claims to have solved the problems of using tubes in a computer's electrically noisy environment. Generating stable high-DC voltages for the tube's plates was another problem AOpen had to solve, one that likely most of the company's engineers had never encountered. Windows PC computers work entirely off highly regulated +12V and +/-5V DC derived from switching power supplies, themselves inherently noisy devices.

When I first started coming here, my impression was that /g/ was fairly evenly split in thirds between freetards, professional/career programmers, and /v/tards and casuals passing through just to ask about hardware.
(I was the latter (not /v/ though), building my first computer, but quickly discovered free software, immediately understood it and why it was the only way to be, started lurking hard, went full stallman (getting rid of my phone and everything), and never left.)
Worth noting that the vast majority of these people regardless of group also seemed to frequent /a/ - No one would go out of their way to lose their shit if someone posted an anime reaction image. This was pretty true everywhere at the time though.
The bittcoin bubble brought in a flood of undesirables, normalfag businessmen and idiots looking to make a quick buck.
With them, they ushered in the era of consumer whore /g/.
This happened around the same time when normalfags, reddit, and phoneposting started to become a major sitewide problem.
>>>/biz/ was created in an attempt to contain the overwhelming number of buttcoin threads, which to it"s credit actually worked - But the people and culture they forced on us never left.
Then the /v/ Tumbler thing happened.
Then the /pol/ thing happened.
So anyway, casuals passing through used to be forced to step up and assimilate else leave but the buttcoin flood lowered the bar and now they are the vast majority.
That's what the fuck happened.

Thankfully it's started going back to the way it was, but fucking hell if I'm glad I left when /g/ became corporate shilling and generals.
It's still mostly generals, which irks me, but at least it's become less autistic overall.

It just seems like this entire site has slowly dropped into an abyss over the last 6 years. I used to frequent boards like /pol/ (when it was libertarian) and /b/ in addition to /g/. The poster child of this site looks like a zuckbook porn sharing group. The "cuck" shit was funny at first, but it has crippled discussion. There's still some safe havens like √64ch_n, but the management worries me.
>>61671827

I.... tarball... shared library... "into a working directory".... compile...
I'm getting a fucking aneurism from this shit.
>>61661782
Someone should add LISP to that
>>61672045
Try to recreate the context, cretin.
1. There is some program X, that doesn't work
2. "Working directory" is referring to working directory of program X
3. Compiling tarball into working directory solves the problem
So you can deduce, that tarball, most likely, is a shared library.
>>61658421

This place is like prison; you don't necessarily like being here, but you're so used to how it works, you just can't stay away. Eventually you find a new thread or general that piques your interest, but either that fades or the content dies.
Sometimes you make friends, and you stay in touch through Discord or Facebook if you trust them enough, but eventually it all just fades. Fucking hell, for a humor thread, I'm actually getting depressed...
>Fucking hell, for a humor thread, I'm actually getting depressed
Don't know about, but i'm lmaoing at your life.

>>61672327
>>61672361
Honestly though, I wouldn't have it any other way. I both love and hate the vernacular 4chan has given me over the years; saying "implying", attempting to greentext, using filenames or pictures as reactions... It just feels natural, and doing it any other way is horrendous.
Sure, 4chan is pretty stagnant anymore, but going to other places like Reddit and Tumblr only helps for a short while. Eventually all the "new" things there end up being rehashed jokes that weren't funny to begin with. Not to mention those sites require a log in and are more left leaning than most of 4chan.
Also, memes. 4chan needs to start making memes again; good memes, not those fucking picture with a white background and the stupid text. Fuck those
>>61672403
Fair enough, I guess
>>61672436
Good legit OC doesn't get made anymore in largepart I believe because it's too sad to see it taken and abused by the reddit/facebook scourge.
And there's no going back from that - It will never again be anything like what it was.
Which is fine, things change - I just wish it wasn't so awful here now most of the time, and there's really no reason it has to be.
