How can I trust an OS that shows ads in their file browser?

Because LFS needs to recoup their operating costs (website, owner's living expenses etc.) and it's a free download.
Meanwhile like what >>61652299 said, I buy Windows 10 and am still subjected to ads

This. The ads aren't even bad, if all ads on the Internet were like that we'd probably not have adblockers. It's static text, it's placed on the width which is okay because most websites only occupy like 50% of the available width on a 1920x1080 resolution and I rather have it on the side than in the middle of the content, you can easily tell it apart from the actual content of the website and it doesn't distract you. If I were using the wiki I'd probably consider disabling my adblocker on their website.

Strawman
It doesn't count as ad if it's from Microsoft.
I don't know what that yellow circle triangle represents but I'm sure it's not a targeted ad.

But it's advertising services provided by Microsoft, namely OneDrive and OneDrive isn't free, so yeah it is an advertisement even if it is for a different Microsoft product.

At least is not in the notification panel.

I-.....
That's just sad, I'm at a loss for words. It's a sad state of affairs when 10million Redditors tolerate this garbage for the sake of unfun timekiller vidya.
I'd sooner drop 2 grand on a Macbook than put up with even half of that image's bullshit.
