Why is /g/ against the new surface laptop?

/g/ are autistic. They're great machines, just not serviceable at all. Pray nothing fucks up because you will most likely have to replace the entire machine.

You run Windows

Thanks for the follow up anon, I'll be sure to see you back here for your update when you crack the screen and realise it'll cost $600 to replace.

This is /g/, we sperg angry about everything that is vaguely normal and popular in favor of niche, diffcult to use solutions, even if there's no real justification for it beyond "open source" and "free". We hate it because it's not a libreboot ThinkPad running gentoo.
That aside, I personally think it's a strong option. Windows 10 S is stupid as hell, but since you can just upgrade it to 10 Home/Pro for free I can't reasonably care that much. Other than that it's a solid laptop. Not serviceable but Microsoft stores are everywhere.
I have a sager laptop so I speak from experience when I say the "user serviceable" meme can be a double edged sword. There's kind of a hard limit to what you can do with a laptop in the first place. You're usually better off just buying something good in the first place vs trying to upgrade as you go like a desktop. Especially since the only upgrade I really needed was adding more storage.
I wouldn't buy one because I don't need an ultrabook but it's respectable considering it's competition is the garbage 2016/2017 Macbooks and other ultrabooks.

They sperged out when I asked about an x360 too, it's a bretty good laptop, just bought it
>Verdict: The Surface Laptop is not a laptop. It’s a glue-filled monstrosity. There is nothing about it that is upgradable or long-lasting, and it literally can’t be opened without destroying it. (Show us the procedure, Microsoft, we’d love to be wrong.)

Good for you. I had a Surface pro 3 and really didn't like it at all but maybe they're better now.

Despite being bs as upgrade to pro isn't free and surface crap isn't popular or (thank god) isn't normal either.
