Which adblock do you use /g/?
Do you whitelist any sites?

If you don't use adblock at all, why not?

Opera has a built in adblock, that is good enough for me.
I also have around 40000 IP-s blocked in my hosts file
>>
>>61637113
I found many ads slip through the Opera one during general browsing but it works well most of the time like on YouTube or Facebook.
>>
>>61637283
To be honest I don't care if some slip through. The sites are dependent on advertising, if it's not a popup or some annoying shit I don't care about it. I even disabled it for my favorite sites
>>
>>61637347
Actually hadn't considered that. Good point.

uBlock
No, not any I use now. I used to have a forum I used to visit whitelisted, but I've stopped visiting it. I also used to have 4chan whitelisted, but when hiro hosted malicious ads I removed it.
>>
uBlock Origin
whitelisted some programming forums I frequent
>>
>>61637072
Kira Noir is her name don't know what video though
>>
>>61637065
Whitelisted a few local tech sites, 2-3 smaller news sites, a private tracker and that's it. I don't really visit other sites which have ads on them.
>>
Magisk and the unified hosts module. Although i'm finding ads slip through sometimes and youtube is unaffected. Trying both AdAway and the module at the same time now.
>>
Is it a better solution to block ads with your router instead of a browser extension? Are there any benefits?
>>
When I uses someone else's browser without adblock I actually find adds shocking. I have used adblock in one form or another for 10 years at this point and I am annoyed by the distraction that adds create.
>>
>>61638539
Benefits: ads blocked on every browser in your household. No need to set every device up with addblock.
Drawbacks: I had problems where instead of blocking adds on youtube altogether I would be shown a black screen until the add had finished playing. This is probably down to the particular implementation I was trying to use.
>>
>>61638652
I actually wondered why videos on youtube have these black rectangles beside them on cinema mode. I thought it was for viewing convenience but it actually is what remains from those huge ads that are supposed to be there instead

I'm using uBlock origin and I manually blacklist everything that gets past it
the only thing whitelisted is 4chan's new banners
>>
>>61638539
Benefits:
>works on all devices without any setup
>pages could load faster because your computer doesn't have to filter while loading or rendering
>theoretically safer because your comptuer will not recieve anything from the blocked addresses

Drawbacks:
>impossible or at least harder to whitelist or temporarily disable some ads/sites
>less effective, some ads are impossible to block without element rules
>only works within the range of that router, you'll see ads on your phone if you venture outside

I have a hostfile-level block on my phone and it's inferior compared to browser adblock imo.

Long-time ABP user, but recently it's been letting shit through on FF mobile, so I tried uBlock Origin or whatever it's called, and am happy with it so far. ABP still works fine on desktop.

I don't whitelist a goddamn thing.

You can't block enough so I need more then one adblocker:
1. Opera's build in Adblocker
2. uBlock Origin
3. Privacy Badger
4. Ghostery (for all those fucking trackers)

if you right click on the ad there should be an option called block element
your screen should darken and only the ad should be in focus and a screen will be on the bottom right with the url to the ad
now if you put an asterisk (*) after the last frontslash (/) it should block everything coming from that url

the screen should look like this (I have all the ads blocked already so I used your picture as an example)

Why do you care?
>>
>>61646882

The kind of person who accesses 4chan primarily through some kind of phone app is not the historical archetype of the kind of person who would normally come to 4chan. The increase of phoneposters and their culture brought a change in the kinds of posts that get made, and changed the 4chan culture slightly. This angered a lot of autistic REEEEposters who were here originally, who can't stand the idea that 'change' is something that doesn't exclusively happen to other people and places.
>>
>>61638296
Youtube bakes ads into the phone itself.

>>61638652
That won't work if your out of your home. In addition Browser have element rule blocking that doesn't block the entirely of the domain, but the element itself.

It's best to use both solutions.

I whitelist any site I go to regularly and doesn't have intrusive ads.
People who adblock their favorite sites are retarded.
It's like you want to enjoy their content but you also want them to go out of business
