is there such a thing as an audio card, internal or external, i can plug a secondary source into and mix the audio? so i dont need to constantly switch audio back and forth
software mixing is fine, don't necessarily need a physical button

Yes? Line input on sound cards, even mobo integrated ones, is pretty much a bog-standard feature. It's the blue jack.

blue jack, not pink?
pink is for microphones which isn't what i'm looking for, blue is literally other audio input that isnt a mic?

Yes, not pink as far as the standard goes, though I think nowadays certain (cheaper probably) sound cards may have a combo input jack which can be software configured as line input or mic input, this depends on your hardware particularities. The standard line input color is blue though and is not meant for microphones at all, nor is pink meant for line input.

Yeah that's pretty much all you need to do, not much to it.

My Scarlett 2i2 audio interface takes in 2 XLR/6.3mm microphones(audio in) and allows 2 channels output of stinky 6.3mm output.
Allows for direct monitoring as well.

Speaking of plugin physical things back and forth and mixing...
