This is a prime example why C is dead

This

what are You talking about
>>61623281
those aren't thumbnails...
>>61623281

breeze icons and default xfwm4 theme is better
>>61623281
How in the fuck are you supposed to see that when you're uploading a file? Anon was talking about how Windows does it or how Dolphin does it like this: >>61623341
>>61623281
>The only improvement gtk3 did is a 16x16 thumbnail.
top kek.
At least chromium can use glorious kdialog.
>>61623361
you drop it from nautilus
there's a patch for gtk2 but i didn't like it
>>61623384
what r u talking about, gtk2 has the same ant thumbnails
>>61623203
QT doesn't have this problem. Why anyone still uses the mess known as GTK is beyond me.
>>61623421
Once the next LTS of Kubuntu comes out, I'll be all over it.
Xubuntu LTS for me, now.
>>61623421
>QT
>KDE
I wanted to like it, but just like my XFCE install, it had screen tearing on the live CD and I didn't want to take the time to fix what I already did a few years ago.
I'll give you this, it looks pretty.
>>61623435
0% change Firefox filepicker thumbnails are implemented in the next LTS of Kubuntu
>>61623421
Because KDE is the only mature DE using it.
I can't wait for LxQt to mature to the point of xfce.
>>61623464
What do you mean?
>>61623478
typo
change = chance
>>61623421
actually Qt DOES have this problem and actually it's much worse
>>61623486
Is there a problem with kubuntu because the thumbnail issue thanks to GTK isn't supposed to happen with QT.
>>61623468
>LxQt
it's LXQt
even writing lxqt wouldn't have been this retarded
>>61623495
>supposed to happen
I'll believe it when I see it. Even KDE Neon hasn't fixed it.
>>61623512
no need to be pedantic
so... this is the power... of open sores...
>>61623468
LXQT + i3 > XFCE
>>61623393
For what it's worth, fair enough.
GtkFileChooser doesn't even seem to generate the thumbnails on its own, they have to be cached with Nautilus first?
How can a file picker be so bad that it becomes a meme?
>>61623680
no? it works regardless of the file manager
>>61623203
>>Only one Linux distro has patched Firefox to fix it
which one?
>>61623620
so, yay?
>>61623724
openSALSA i think
>>61623724
openPEPE
>>61623518
Look at another poster's screenshot, QT apps work fine for file picking and thumbnails.
>>61623809
they have to be manually enabled in firefox through patching.
>>61623711
I'm not saying there's a hard dependency on Nautilus itself, but the thumbnail does need to be cached in .cache/thumbnails and not all file managers uses that. delete said folder and let me know if I'm wrong.
>>61623493
This. The Qt file picker is just as shit as the GTK one. The difference is that the Qt one is just supposed to be a reference implementation or a fallback.
Now the actual good file picker you people are talking about is kdialog from KDE.
>>61623203

I can think of no worse combination of things. Oh wait, yes I can -- Firefox recently had that update didn't it?

which is what pepe uses

openPEPE KDE is the best linux experience
The Windows one lets you search, rename, delete, and even use urls.
Linux is fucking shit.
>>61623892
i used pcmanfm
it was ok
>>61623930
yes it even is more shit because no thumbnails at all
>>61624013
that's because it's just the explorer itself
>>61624013
>and even use urls
sometimes it takes a minute to download a 16kb file when you do that, wtf is wrong with windows
>>61624013
you make good points. i wish i could do that in Linux. but it's not worth waiting 5 min for my downloads folder to generate thumbnails everyday (still a windows issue)
>>61623987
>install Chromium
Wow that was hard.
>>61624068
provide instructions to disable WebRTC from within Chromium proper... I'll be waiting.
>>61623724
someone link the patch
>>61624013
Yep, not even kdialog has that. I don't use such function but I have to admit that there are still many things that can be improved about even the most "advanced" DEs on Linux.
It's good for customization to have variety and be able to choose your DE from a plethora of them but I think that also contributes to this issue of slow progress. Also this division between Qt and GTK, GTK2 and GTK3, Wayland support, all of this is not exactly a good thing.
