Amd is gimping their old cards and not giving them new software features and This over clocker (YouTube link) de lided and amd CPU and they made him take it down

Did they say they weren't going to give old cards new features eventually? Also, this is not the same as NVidia flat out giving up on optimizing Kepler.

Not sure why this is surprising, they do this all the time. They add features first for newer cards, then later for older ones. Better than rolling out updates all at the same time later on.
>This over clocker (YouTube link) de lided and amd CPU and they made him take it down
Really? I wonder why. Everyone knew it was a soldered quad-die CPU anyway, can't see what the video revealed in terms of new information.

most likely because people are reporting on it as if threadripper is just epyc when it's probably a case of binning bad epyc chips down into threadripper like they did with the phenoms (some people had success unlocking the 4th core, some people had issues preventing them overclocking with the 4th core, some people were stuck with 3 cores)

someone at AMD fucked up and allowed him to release it before the end of the NDA. This is nothing unsusal (apart from the fuckup at AMD, of course). You want to give all journalists the chance to report at the same time and give them some time for testing. Even though this information in the delidding video wasn't critical it's still hard to draw a line, so they just made him take it down. It'll be back up after siggarph
