These are hard to find now in use-able condition.
What's the best replacement monitor out today for < $300?
>>61611904
no they are not, stop looking at Sony ones and go for rebrand FW900's
>>61611904
Look for PVA or MVA monitors if you want good contrast..
>>61611904
Response time on new monitors has improved to the degree that it might actually be OK to just go out and buy a new $300 screen my dude
>>61611939
>rebrand FW900's
These are also hard to find now, and the price of shipping kills actually finding one out of state.
>>61611980
>PVA or MVA
Like korean brand monitors, any actually worth owning today?
>>61612012
Even if you believe the bullshit 1ms they advertise on an LCD monitor (the best you'll get is about a frame behind which is around 17ms for 60hz) it's still order of magnitudes worse than a CRT which the response time is measured in nanoseconds
>1:1 aspect ratio
>2k x 2k display
>300 fps refresh rate
>no input lag
Anyone on /g/ throwing one of these away?
>>61612111
>LCD
Fuck off, IPS has been a thing for years.
>>61611904
1) No, they are still widely available, stop looking in the wrong places
2) Having a CRT is only acceptable and useful in 2017 when you have a old shitbox to use with it
3) There's no reason to use a CRT this day and age when IPS screen surpass CRTs in every way (inb4 some meme argument)
4) You're a fucking retard
>>61612358
>>61612012
nu/g/ can fuck off
CRTs are still superior technology
>>61612358
>thinks that ips comes close
>>61612328
IPS is type of LCD dipshit
>>61611904
If you want fast, a 144 Hz TN gaymen monitor. If you want accurate (which the Trinitrons like the FW900 ARE NOT), get any IPS monitor and a colorimeter.
>>61612358
> IPS screen surpass CRTs in every way
Picture related. Guess which one is a CRT and which one is an IPS. Bonus points if you can tell me which of the LCDs is TN.
>>61612387
superior electric bill, as well
t. resentful eurofag
>>61612576
>tn
Go away.
>If you want accurate (which the Trinitrons like the FW900 ARE NOT)
You can make them accurate with a usb calibrator if 4:3 is okay than a gdm f520 is hard to beat.
>>61612576
tn - crt - ips
>>61613320
I own two of those as well as all the tools required to calibrate them. They're absolute trash, as their native gamma (as seems to be the case for all Trinitron tubes of that vintage) is >2.4. You can only get a somewhat reasonable SRGB response by sacrificing all your dynamic range and making them look like a passive matrix LCD from 1999.
>>61613636
Good job.
>>61613662
>I own two of those as well as all the tools required to calibrate them. They're absolute trash
How much are you selling these for? I might know someone who's willing to take these garbage monitors off your hands.
I mean, the best replacement that surpasses or matches a CRT at most features is OLED, no ifs or buts about it. An Alienware 13 is a pretty good option, since they can be configured to stellar specs for the footprint.
If you want a desktop monitor, I'd recommend NEC's professional line - keep in mind that Sony Pro CRTs used to go for thousands when new.
>>61612122
Lowest I've seen these go for was $12,000, and that was somewhat recently off ebay.
If you don't game then idk why'd you use a CRT.
However, playing FPS games like Quakeworld/CS on a 200hz 800x600 crt is nice.
>>61613752
Shipping to literally anywhere outside of Scandinavia would be several hundred dollars. I'm not opposed to extracting money out of insane people, but I'd wager whoever you're referring to is not that insane.
>>61613844
>I'm not opposed to extracting money out of insane people, but I'd wager whoever you're referring to is not that insane.
Probably just better off finding more off craigslist then.
>>61613911
I'd literally give them away for free, lol. I pulled them out of a dumpster.
>>61612122
ain't no one throwing those away. Those in specific go for a shitton of money.
my father stopped by and dropped this off at my place two years ago, never thought much about it
its a Samsung SyncMaster 755DF
is it good
>>61612576
this is only relevant if you plan on using your monitors in pitch darkness all the time. take a picture with the lights on.
>>61614152
No, CRTs don't like light.
>>61611904
>>61613932
wish i found some for free
>>61614245
>100% cpu just by sitting on desktop
>>61612387
CRT had plenty of time to perfect itself.
flat panel technology still has time to evolve. I doubt we're done with innovations there yet.
just get a plasma if you need .01nanosecond faster response rate
at least its not an ugly, eye tearing, huge box
>>61617065
plasma had horrible input lag, burn in issues, color loss, and I don't know if they made them with higher resolutions than 720p.
>>61618259
The burn in issues were only on early Plasmas. They made 1080p. The input lag is about the same as other screens. Still better than LCD for movies.
iiyama ProLite XB2483HSU
there you go op
>>61618387
>The burn in issues were only on early Plasmas.
The burn issue is a flaw that affected all plasmas. The newerish models handled burn in better, but never solved it.
>The input lag is about the same as other screens.
Input lag was through hdmi wasn't as bad, but it's horrible compared to crts, and pc lcd monitors.
>>61612387
CRTs ARE nu-/g/
/g/ is not a tech illerate that think CRTs are the best for everything
No, unless you are fucking poor that you can't afford a proper $300 IPS panel or need the CRT for games, you don't use a CRT.
>>61612576
>>61613662
If >>61613636 is true you have a horrible IPS screen
IPS usually has way-way better angles than TF
so you shouldn't even be talking about IPS if you never had a proper panel
>>61612576
>>61613662
>monitor that came with graphics workstations
>hurr it's shit color
yup, that's a furry
